5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Costume for a 5 to 8 year old!
We purchased this costume for our 5 year old son to wear for Halloween. It was fantastic! He loved the costume, and looked great in it! It fit him well (he's a pretty average 5 year old size), and it seems he'll be able to wear it for the next few years without trouble.The riding Yoshi effect is awesome and hysterical. Yoshi's tail 'wags' as the child walks, and his head kinda bobs around. As we were out trick-or-treating, people were in love with the costume, and it even caused one overly enthusiastic homeowner to declare my son the 'winner of Halloween' and empty his candy bowl into my son's bag. As the father in this situation I was not terribly thrilled with the implications of an overly hyper candy'd up kid running around for the next month but alas, my kiddo was happy.The fan on this unit is powerful enough to fill the costume and keep it inflated. I put batteries in it the day before, and it ran for about 4 hours on Halloween. At the end of the day the batteries were definitely starting to run down, causing Yoshi to appear tired and defeated, but I would feel tired too if a 5 year old rode me around the neighborhood for 4 hours.I wish this came with the hat, mustache, and gloves but they were easy enough to find elsewhere, and for the price how could I complain.Tl;dr Great costume for 5-8, looks awesome, doesn't come with hat, mustache, gloves but whatevs, fan with fresh batteries lasts ~4hrs.

I read all the other reviews and thought I would be smarter. We tested the fan as soon as costume arrived and then removed the batteries and I wouldn't let my son even look at the costume till Halloween. Day of we got everything setup and he was so excited. The tail would wag when he walked and it looked so cool. We headed out to go trick-or-treating and about 5 minutes in the fan stops working and the whole thing deflates. I tried to change the batteries and fiddled with the cords and it started working again! For about 30 seconds. :(Luckily my son also saw the numerous other reviews that stated the fans are suspect on these costumes and so he took it in stride and tried to enjoy his Halloween, but I was pretty bummed that it failed so quickly. Total piece of junk.

Design flaw is that the leg sits over the fan which sucks it in and deflates costume. I used velcro to move the leg from in front of the fan. It's an easy fix and the costume worked great. Overall it's a great costume. Would be better if they found a better placement for fan. Also should put a pouch to hold the battery pack.

A lot of reviews talk about the fan going out and I think the main reason for that is the Mario leg blocking the fan. We immediately pinned the leg back using strong Velcro and it stayed well. My son has used this costume three times now in the last week and we haven't changed the battery's yet. I'll put fresh one in for trick or treating tonight but we've gone to three different Halloween events that have lasted a few hours each and this costume has held up well. The shoulder strap is starting to fray a bit, but I feel like it still has several wears before that gives way. The power box has to clip to something so he wears sweatpants underneath and it clips to the waistband. It has fallen off a few times and we fish it out from the leg and clip it back but that's usually when he's running and jumping around. You do need to buy the shirt and mustache separately. Overall it's a good buy.

I purchased this for my 4yo. He absolutely loved it. We paired it with a pair of red long johns to ward off the chilly fall air.

I bought this for my 8 year old; I was concerned about if he would be too tall for it but it works well enough for him. He's about 55" tall and about 60lbs. The yoshi legs stop right at his ankles, so it's a great length; the Mario legs look silly bc they are so tiny and he fills out the body so fully but it's good enough. As others have said one of the Mario legs goes right over the fan which is just asking for the motor to blow out so we put Velcro adhesive dots on the Mario leg & the yoshi body and this holds the leg away from the fan just fine. The fan also fell out of the yoshi body when he was jumping but we were able to put it back in. My 5 year old also tired this on; he's about 47" tall & about 55lbs. Unfortunately, with his smaller stature he doesn't fully fill out the overalls of the Mario part and a lot of air escapes so the yoshi head is not fully inflated & looks droopy. When he squats down it floods air into the yoshi head making it pop up and everyone thinks it's hysterical.
Does not inflate.
When the costume arrived, the fan to blow up the costume would not work. We had a very upset little boy on World Book Day. Had the fan of worked, the costume would be worth the money.

An sich schön aber nichts für große Kinder. Unser Sohn hatte mit seinen 150cm keine Chance da reinzukommen. Dann lieber die Erwachsenengröße, da passen dann auch die Proportionen von Yoshi besser (nicht so übermäßig lange Beine)
