Ocha & Co. Shizuoka Organic Matcha - Ceremonial Grade - ECO JAS Organic Certified - Japanese First-Harvest Matcha Green Tea Powder, Traditionally Stone-Milled, 100g.

Description:

  • What Makes Our Shizuoka Organic Matcha (有機抹茶) Special? Sourced from the prestigious tea gardens of our farm in Shizuoka, our Ceremonial Grade (Tokujō 特上) matcha is made exclusively from the Gokou cultivar, a rare and highly prized variety known for its deep umami, natural sweetness, and smooth finish. Carefully shade-grown to enhance its rich flavor profile, our green tea leaves (tencha) are traditionally stone-milled, preserving their vibrant color, balanced taste, and delicate aroma.
  • Ceremonial Grade (Tokujō 特上): We classify our matcha into three grades, each crafted for a unique experience. Discover our 100% Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha, ideal for both beginners and green tea enthusiasts. Created by the renowned master Suzuki San, this premium matcha is shade-grown to preserve L-theanine and enhance chlorophyll levels, resulting in a naturally sweeter, umami-rich flavor. It is completely gluten-free and sugar-free, staying true to its pure and authentic origins.
  • We Want to Help You Enjoy Matcha: Whether in traditional tea, a latte, or any other way, we believe there is no right or wrong way to enjoy it. Our 100g package yields a total of 50 servings. With 2g of matcha, you can prepare a cup of usucha (light tea) or a creamy matcha latte. Unlike coffee, which causes energy spikes, our matcha is rich in L-theanine, an amino acid that balances caffeine, providing sustained energy, focus, and relaxation.
  • Uncompromising Quality: Our matcha is JAS BIO-certified, ensuring it is 100% organic and meets Japan’s strict official standards for quality, purity, and sustainability. Additionally, all our products are shipped weekly in small batches directly from our farms to Amazon’s warehouse. Thanks to this continuous process, our products reach you just days after production, preserving their freshness and properties in our airtight-seal packaging.
  • OCHA & CO: We are a traditional Japanese company committed to sharing the authentic Japanese matcha experience with you. Our mission is to offer the highest quality matcha, grown and processed directly at the source. By choosing our products, you not only enjoy premium tea but also support rural Japanese communities and their way of life, where our farms are located.

5.0 out of 5 stars A high quality matcha to add to your collection

It smells very nutty and umami right upon opening the bag, and when mixed with hot water I get a lot of nutty savory notes. Mixed in a latte, it is not very grassy but the color is bright green and very beautiful. You can taste the quality in this as a little powder goes a long way -- not bitter, just umami and tender. I do not get any astringency, sourness, or bitterness. I will definitely be repurchasing and trying other varieties from this manufacturer.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Matcha powders that I have tried!!

    F.B.L. · May 6, 2025

I have tried many different ceremonial-grade powders on Bolo, but a lot of them fall short. This one has an amazing color and an amazing taste. People are complaining that it tastes better, but it does not taste bitter; it tastes exactly how much it should taste. I will continue buying this, and my favorite part is that it is heavy metal tested and organic, which is exactly what I was looking for!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for lattes but smells like seaweed

    C.D. · February 6, 2025

I got the Kyoto Uji Matcha, and I think it's worth it! The powder itself is green and super vibrant and not yellow at all (cheaper matchas tend to be slightly yellow from oxidation (aka they're not that fresh)). After mixing it with water and sugar, it smelled a lot like roasted seaweed which is fine but it DID have the salty, ocean smell that almost reached the territory of fishy imo. As a latte, it's really smooth, and has a well balanced flavor. A bit of sweetness and a bit of umami plus a tiny hint of roasted notes which might be from the seaweed smell of it. Definitely makes a nice sweet latte though if you're adding sugar. You'll be able to taste the matcha flavor without it being over powering and bitter. Overall it's great and worth the money but be aware that it does smell like seaweed in case you're sensitive to smells which is why I'm only doing 4/5 stars. Also if you need a latte recipe, TRUST ME ON THIS!!!!whisk 3 g of matcha with 5 g of sugar and 50 ml of water. Once fully combined, add in 20 g of sweetened condensed milk, 200 ml of milk, and then some ice. you'll get a really creamy matcha latte that's on the sweeter side. highly recommend

This is my second bag and I’m very impressed! 6 stars if the price came down to 30 but I am very satisfied and appreciate the fast shipping. Great earthy and nutty notes, beautiful green quality matcha.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ceremonial grade matcha on amazon

    T. · April 26, 2025

Best ceremonial grade matcha. I've tried several ("ceremonial grade"), and everytime I come back to this one, because it's color and taste is superior. Bolo let me know I've bought this one 7 times already, and will continue to do so, because I cannot find a better ceremonial grade matcha. The only time I've had equivalent quality of color and taste was from a small, single use matcha packet straight from Japan.

Great product. I use it to boost my immune system and prior to waitressing long hard shift. I take 1Lg tablespoon, put I in warm spring water, whip it up and drink it. Highly like it.

    Organic! Amazing quality.

Definitely organic! I love the taste, it’s completely different from the matcha you get at coffee shops. I am replacing coffee with matcha and I feel much better health-wise. It boosts my energy and concentration in a much smoother way. I highly recommend buying a matcha kit (specially a bamboo whisk and a strainer) as electric mixers don’t create a smooth homogeneous drink - you will end up with some small grains (not as pleasant to drink). Without the proper tools, it can be tricky to prepare a nice drink and you might waste some product.

    Lovely budget matcha

    D.A. · April 11, 2025

This Matcha is quite bitter so bear that in mind, but the flavour is strong and lovely it’s quite floral and when you open the bag the smell of white chocolate is amazing, it feels fresh and lovely it’s a great quality for the price and it’s a beautiful green.

    High quality

I've been looking for high quality matcha in the UK for a little while now and finally I've found one. Tastes great cold or hot and rich in colour.

Smooth, gentle, balanced with a creamy layer

    H. · May 13, 2025

Visually, it's spot on, brilliant green powder, super fine, clearly good quality.Making it as usucha (80C, electric frother), it's got all those high-quality hallmarks: very smooth, gentle, nicely balanced umami and sweetness, no bitterness. Definitely premium, but didn't seem any different from other high quality Uji matchas. After drinking it a few more times, I did start to notice something a bit different, a really nice, almost velvety creamy texture or layer to it. That was interesting and quite pleasant, not used to ' creaminess' in any of my tea.But here's the thing: even with that creaminess, the actual taste profile still felt very much in that classic, balanced Uji camp. For something labelled "Limited Production" and at this price, I guess I was hoping for a more distinct or complex flavour to really make it stand out. It’s very good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't quite deliver a unique punch that would clearly separate it from another really good, smooth Uji matcha like the Midori Matcha Superior Grade I also reviewed.Maybe it would be a different story as koicha, which would bring out more depth, but that's not really for casual drinking and too expensive to experiments with.Overall, it's a lovely, high-quality matcha if you want something extremely smooth, gentle, and with a nice touch of creaminess. But if you're shelling out hoping for a really standout or different flavour adventure, it might feel a tad too polite and familiar.
