I would recommend this product to anyone whose dogs have joint problems. I have an older dog whose back leg gave her so much pain that she could hardly walk. The vet told me that she would need an operation to secure that joint socket because it was not sturdy. I didn't want to do the operation so she sent me home with some pain pills and anti-inflammatory pills. I heard about this product and started giving her 4 pills a day. In 3 weeks her pain went away. She starting walking fine. That's been since January. I still have her on a 3 pill a day regimen and she walks fine. This saved her quality of life.

When I first started using these for our dogs they were around 9 years old and I gave them 2 tablets each day (1 each breakfast 'n dinner). After 2 years my brother told me that the directions mention after a beginning period they only need 1 a day. One of our dogs when it was 12 years old starting gaining weight gradually as it didn't run around as much (the other dog still did). I cut down on the food for that dog as it had trouble going up the stairs (we also have a ramp) and started to give both dogs 2 pills a day again along with making sure that i insisted it walk with the other more energenic dog. They both seem to be doing fine, running or walking (in our place in the countryside). They are both 13 and a half years old.Side note, several years ago I ate one of their pills for my joints (now 74), the taste is terrible for humans and as it turns out, even though the dogs pills are much larger the active ingredient is much less.I did start taking Cosamin right after this.

Our GSD likes getting his Cosequin tablet daily. We have done so since he was 9 months old. His hips are fine but we want the added help Cosequin tablets provide for his body.

Nutramax Cosequin made a huge difference in my dog's life. He has a severe systemic form of arthritis called Immune Mediated Polyarthritis, which basically means that every joint in his body is excruciatingly painful from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. He could not even open his mouth without screaming out in pain. We used Prednisone, and the more serious Azathioprine, to reduce inflammation and to encourage a quiescence of the disease with some success, but he still was in so much pain that he could not even walk up or down stairs. If it were possible to add a video here on Bolo, I would show you how crippled this dog actually was.As a last resort, I decided to try Nutramax Cosequin. I reasoned that it certainly could not hurt because it was an herbal remedy, so we did not have to worry about pharmaceutical side effects. I did not have high hopes for it, I just thought that any improvement would be so appreciated. I have to say that I am completely blown away by Nutramax Cosequin! In one week my dog started running when we were out on walks outdoors. His slowest gait is now a trot! Not only does he now climb stairs, he runs up and down stairs and even jumps up on furniture (which is OK in our house)! The expression on his face has changed from worry to happiness. My dog is a very picky eater, and he loves the taste of Nutramax Cosequin, and considers it to be a treat. I am forever grateful to Nutramax for this outstanding product.One word of warning to consumers: Don't be fooled by the copycat product that you can find here on Bolo, and elsewhere. It is called "Cosequin, made by Cosequin", not Cosequin made by Nutramax. It is a ripoff product with almost identical packaging. If you read the negative reviews of that product, you can find out more information. I am actually shocked that this copycat product is readily offered here on Bolo, right next to the real thing, the Nutramax Cosequin! Beware!

Usually offered for a pretty good price on Bolo. Sometimes Costco will have it for a pretty good deal, but I usually end up ordering it from here. I just mix it in with my dog's food and he gobbles it right up.Does it actually work? That probably has an unfounded answer, but I used it profilacticly on my last 100lb Rottweiler and he lived a good life with no joint issues.
