Turns out, it was exactly what I wanted. I should state that the one I got was black with blue display. I wanted a small clock to place in my entertainment center so I could easily see the time when we were watching TV. For that it works perfectly - nice bright display (I have it set on the highest level) and diminutive size ( 2.5" x 2.5" x 2.5")After reading some of the reviews, I agree the instructions leave a lot to be desired. I needed to use a magnifying glass at first, but then realized they are pretty intuitive. On the back of the clock are 4 buttons - Set; Up; Down; & Reset. A quick press & release of the set buttons opens 1 menu. Here you set the display mode DP 1 is the mode that cycle through time, date & temperature. DP 2 is time only, which is where I have it set. You use the up and down button to make your selection. Touch set button again and the brightness level comes up. You choose between LO, 1, 2, and 3. Again, use the up or down buttons to make your selection and then press set. That brings back the clock mode, press and hold set for 2 seconds or so and the display starts flashing the year, then month, day, 12hr/ 24hr, hour and finally minutes. After you've set those, it shows 3 different alarms (didn't use those so I just pressed set to scroll through them). After setting the clock there's one more menu that comes up. It looks on the display like "Sd" - this one controls whether the display remains on all the time or just when you tap it or clap your hands. This is where I think it's a little counter intuitive "oN:Sd" means the sound control is on and you have to tap the clock or clap to activate the display. "--:Sd" means the sound control is off and the display is always on.The clock itself is very nice, it uses the included usb cable and adaptor for power and 3 AAA batteries as back up. I've read in other reviews that if you elect to run on batteries only, it eats them pretty quickly so be fore warned. The usb cable on mine fits securely in the back of the clock and the cord seems sufficient length to reach a nearby outlet.I am very pleased with the appearance, again mine is a black analine wood finish that looks fine against all the black components. I have had it about 3 weeks now and haven't had any quality issues at all. I can't speak to the function of the alarm clock because I haven't used that. For $12.99 I think it was a great find for what I wanted.

From my experience and looking through the reviews, it is quite clear that many of these are being shipped with faulty buttons or some firmware problem that renders them useless - because a clock is useless if it does not allow you to set the time. I followed the enclosed instruction EXACTLY several times, and it never brought me to the mode to set year, date time etc. Used Reset button and tried again. Unplugged with batteries out for hours and tried again. Looked at pdf instructions online and youtube videos - still no joy. Tried every alternative button combination and duration I could think of before and after Resets ... still no joy. Let me add I am a scientist and surgeon (although neither a rocket scientist nor a brain surgeon). This is the first gadget I ever found literally impossible to set.For the clock I got, the instructions were not just complicated - they did not work. Other people report this experience, while others are able to set it. I think some large portion of the clocks shipped are just plain faulty. Liked the look and small size, but it has to be returned as damaged.

This review is for people who want to use the clock solely as a clock and not as an alarm.I dropped FIOS because my company will pay for my internet if the cable is not part of the bill. I am using a roku player for Sling, Netflix, Hulu, Bolo, HBO, etc. When I gave Verizon back their box, I no longer had a digital clock for easy viewing while watching TV. I wanted something digital, small and cheap, but I also wanted something that didn't look out of place. I got the dark brown model to match the furniture.- The clock is 2.5 inches tall and wide. I was surprised how small it was. I guess in my head I pictured it 3.5 - 4 inches.- The instructions are terrible but not complicated if you are just using it as a clock and only need to adjust the 24hr / 12hr setting and the brightness.- The numbers are red colored on this model. I chose the red because I read another review that said the blue is hard to see and the clock color of the other models clashed with the furniture.- The clock is still pretty bright on the lowest setting. It actually took a day or two to get used to the red glowing numbers below the tv. Once I was used to it I hardly notice it unless I am looking at it. You can clearly see the time from a distance at any time of day which is a plus.- My only complaint is that the red color does not match the living room setting. The brown clock matches my furniture very well. I'm sure blue or white numbers would have fit the living room better but having a bright white or blue light shining at me while watching tv at night would not be any more pleasant than the red.Overall it does it's job very well and I have not had any issues with it in the 2 months that I have had it.

El único detalle es que las pilas duran poco de modo que tiene que estar conectado a un cable y por lo tanto el diseño pierde originalidad. Por lo demás me ha gustado mucho!
