Great pen. Love the feel how it writes. my only complaint and why I returned it is because the cap would not stay on while using the pen. I am out in the field all them time and the cap keeps falling off the pen while using.

20 years ago I was given a Mont Blanc Pen as a gift. Unfortunately, I lost that pen and didn't want to spend the money to replace it. This Cross Pen is as nice as that Mont Blanc was. The color is fantastic and the weight of the pen is perfect. The ink in it is okay but I'll use it up and replace it with something a little better quality. Well worth the price. Highly recommend!!

I bought this fountain pen purely on a whim because I liked its appearance and the price was good. I have two older Cross Bailey fountain pens with different finishes, and they are good pens, so I had a good idea of what I was getting.Writing with this pen was a pleasant surprise: the fine nib is very smooth - more so than most of Cross's 14 karat gold nibs, and the ink flow was even and steady. While the cap does post on the back of the pen body, I found that I preferred writing without posting. The matte red lacquer finish with black trim gives the pen appearance a subtle quality.Overall, this is an excellent pen that looks and writes like much more expensive models!

I’ve been buying fine writing instruments for at least 30 years, particularly before retiring. This is the first time i recall being disappointed with the purchase of a quality pen. My brand preferences have been Cross, Waterman and Montblanc. While I have no reluctance at paying top dollar for a quality writing instrument, my expectation is that i will get a quality product that has survived the rigors of the manufacturer’s quality control system. I like Cross pens and will continue to buy Cross pens; however, i will not buy another Cross Bailey ballpoint pen. It’s a beautiful pen indeed. Its beauty nearly has an addictive nature. The Bailey’s writing performance meets my expectation of the Cross reputation. My disappointment resides in replacing the refill. Replacement is easy enough but the cap will not stay connected to the barrel. That renders the pen USELESS. I might as well toss the pen in the trash. That option is unacceptable because this is a Cross pen and not some cheap disposable pen bought from a street vendor’s stand. It’s my first Cross Bailey pen and my last. While Cross has a great lineup of nice pens, the Bailey needs more engineering. Yes, I’m a dissatisfied customer but I’m not disgusted with the Cross brand. I will continue to be a repeat customer who will avoid buying the Cross Bailey ballpoint again. I still have high expectations for the Cross pen.

Pen looks great and writes well. For this type of pen, I prefer to put the cap on the other end while writing, so I am holding a longer and fatter pen. The body on this pen is tapered so that the cap won't stay on while writing. With larger hands, my hand cramps up before long.
