First of all, I just want to say that I have done a lot of Home perms over the years. So I feel like I have a little bit of expertise in this area. I get my hair done by my beautician occasionally, but really, her perms are not that much different than the ones I do myself. So I figure why pay so much to get my hair permed when I can perm it myself for so little? This is a very good perm kit. I recently, actually more than a year ago, I started letting my hair grow out. So my hair is quite gray/white now. The idea of a perm enhancing the color of my hair was an attractive one because gray/white hair can become yellowed. It looks much nicer when it's a nice crisp or white or gray color. To be honest I can't speak to whether the perm actually benefited my hair color for sure. But I can say that I got a great curl from it and the color of my hair does look good. Now I have one complaint and that is that this perm kit runs $5 to $10 higher than others I have bought. If they brought the price down a couple dollars I would be even happier. :) But I will I will certainly say that I would recommend this perm as giving very good results. Don't be afraid to try it. iIt's really not that hard. I would say it's nice to have a friend or your husband available to do the very back of your hair especially when it comes to applying the solutions. But with a little effort, you can do this on your own. Good luck!

I permed my hair since I was about 18 and then in 2000 we moved and I did not perm it again until about a year ago. I had my hair permed professionally twice and it was a disaster - my hair looked like a poodle and it was so dry and frizzy despite using the best products. I vowed never to go to a salon again and after much research I saw this product and decided to give it a try. I used big 1 inch rods and my hair turned out lovely, soft beach waves and feels very soft and hydrated. The process was very quick - the longest time was to actually roll my hair on the rods. I waited the 15 minutes and then after the rinse for 3 minutes I put on the neutraliser , wait 3 minutes rinsed it and then put on the conditioner and that was it. I will definitely use this perm again from now on.

I repurchased this perm because I got the same one a few months ago and it worked well. I was pleased with the results. The second time around was a totally different story. I knew something wasn’t right as I unwound the curls following 5 minutes of neutralizing, and they were straight! What a disappointment! I wouldn’t have given it three stars except it could have been worse. At least my hair wasn’t damaged beyond what some good repair masks could help. Will be shopping for a different perm in the future.

My mom, the nearly 100-year-old fashionista, insists on perfectly permed hair. The beauty shops have a hard time dealing with her because of her restlessness and dementia. So I thought I'd give this a try. I was worried that her skin and scalp is so delicate, and her hair so fine and thin. I worried that perming chemicals might irritate or even burn her fragile skin. But this perm kit worked great. She had no skin or scalp irritation at any time. (Whew!) I loved the fact that the wave-solution processing time is only 15 minutes. And the neutralizer processing time is only 5 minutes. So she didn't have to sit still for very long. And I love the fact that you can't over-process the hair with this kit. Her hair came out softly curled and lovely. The included conditioner for use at the end is a nice touch. I plan on buying this product for all her future perms. Note that the kit doesn't come with papers, but they're cheap enough to buy separately. The included plastic cap for use during wave-solution processing doesn't stay on the head so you'll want to have a big hair clip handy to hold the cap in place. The kit is easy to use, the directions simple and clear. Good product.
