(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I ordered this for my friend who sent me the link because he doesn't have a bank account to make online orders. He thought he was getting the cart with the blue wheels. All he got was the hitch. With the tax it was $85.00. That seems a bit high for three aluminum bars. He can't even afford to ship it back to ask for a refund. He wants to use it to pick up cans from the side of the road to recycle. It took him months to save up that $85.00. If he had seen an individual picture of the hitch he would have better understood the product. He can't read well, so clear visual displays are very important.
3.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but need 33.9mm adapter
Works well, but they need to provide an adapter for the 33.9mm seat post. Most folding bikes have the 33.9mm seat post, and these would complement each other well for use on boats. The threads stripped out on my first hitch, and when I called Tipke, they immediately sent out another one free of charge. I've been using the 2nd one for several months now, and it's working like a champ. I just wish I could use it with my folding bike :(
4.0 out of 5 stars One little modification, but works great!
As the product description states, it seems as though it would fit pretty much any bike, but I had one small problem with it. The seat on my small frame bike is in a very low position (thanks to genetics I've got some short legs) and I've got a luggage rack installed on my bike. With the seat up as high as I can stand it, there is still not enough room between to top of my luggage rack and the bottom of the seat to attach the bike hitch. I did not want to remove my luggage rack as I use it quite frequently, so I ended up removing the straight pin from the hitch and bought a second hitch pin (to make it easier to remove the bike hitch from the bike) then I superglued some rubber to the actual hitch clamp and attached it to a flat part of my luggage rack (see photo.) The rubber helps fill in the extra space and keeps the hitch from wobbling around against the luggage rack. All in all, very happy with the bike hitch concept. I've attached photos of my modification in case you're still skeptical about this item. Don't let a luggage rack deter you from buying this FoldIt cart accessory. It's a really great addition to my bike!PhotoRed arrow: Bracket to attach hitch to seat post. Attached it to flat part of luggage rack and filled extra space with rubber to prevent wobbling.Green arrow: Removed original straight pin and replaced with hitch pin ($3) to make removal easier.Blue arrow: Original hitch pin (difficult to remove with seat post in low position hence my decision to replace straight pin with another hitch pin.)Second photoRed arrow: Rubber washer cut in half then superglued to both sides of clamp.Third photoTop view of hitch clamp and added hitch pin.
5.0 out of 5 stars Measure the circumference of the seat post-does not fit all
Only fits on smaller older standard post. Won't fit on the newer bikes for example Cannondale or Raleigh the post are to big.
2.0 out of 5 stars May need to modify the connection
I am not sure if it was just this one but the plastic part between the arm and the swivel attachment broke in half after a month of light use. I have had others that have purchased these and had no issues for many years even under high loads.
1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy
It's just a hitch attachment to hook a cart or wagon to a bicycle and honestly you can find cheaper ones than this I paid $70 and all I got was the hitch and 2 bars to attach to a wagon or cart not the whole cart and hitch like you see in the picture and I contacted the seller and all I get is the usual run around and for $70 this is a rip off
4.0 out of 5 stars Adapt the hitch to larger seat post!
I have yet to actually use this hitch. I ordered the hitch not knowing if it would fit a Swagtron EB-5 bike (https://www.Bolo.com/SwagCycle-Lightweight-Aluminum-Folding-Electric/dp/B07BNVST4P/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1533593140&sr=8-2&keywords=EB-5+bike).Some answered questions suggested it would not fit around the rather fat seat post. I figured, if not - I could jury rig it with a two-mast clamp from the hardware store. Turns out I could, but not the way I planned. The Swagtorn EB-5 arrived today, and indeed, the hitch clamp will NOT fit the post . . . without a bit of adaptation. The design of the clamp is not clear in the on-line pictures. Once I tried it on the EB-5 post, it was clear it would not fit as manufactured. There was a much easier fix than a two-mast clamp. A simple stainless steel key ring fit perfectly through the cotter pin holes on the clamp, enlarging the clamp by about 1/2" (see photo). The set screw in the clamp can be tightened onto the larger post easily, and the cotter pin still fits. The seat post on the EB-5 is 33 mm. This is much larger than standard seat posts. The addition of the "key ring expander" increased the clamp diameter to 40 mm. This particular key ring came in a pack with 3 different sizes. The outside diameter was 32 mm. I don't think the other sizes would fit through both cotter key holes. If you have a bike with a fat post, this may allow you to use this hitch too.The Bolo description of the hitch was very unclear if you don't actually own the Tipke trailer already. The total device includes two aluminum arms that slide into the trailer in place of the original handle. The two arms are attached to a single arm at the end of which is the crucial clamp used to attach the trailer to the bike seat post.I've used the hitch without a bike attached. It is actually a bit easier (for me) to use than the standard U-shaped handle. But, I think with a heavier load I'd probably want to use the standard handle. This one works OK for 1 hand pulling, though.I love the trailer. It is a bit heavy, but I can toss it either folded or fully opened (with the handle removed) into the back of my Jeep and still have room for other things like an ice chest. The trailer itself moves easily even with a relatively heavy load of 100+ pounds. I'll add more on the hitch/trailer once I try them out with the electric bike on the actual dock.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, hooks up to any cart, if you think outside the box
if you work for the movie studios, and need to haul tools back and forth between stages, and the back lots, this is, not only hilarious, but you'll be the most efficient worker on the lot. If you are homeless and need to haul recycling....you need this. I love it, works great, there's a way to make it work with any bike.
