Paddington Bear first appeared in a 1958 British children’s book, A Bear Called Paddington, written by Michael Bond and has been featured in over twenty books, which have been translated into over 30 languages. Newly illustrated by R.W. Alley, Paddington is a stowaway who came from “Darkest Peru” to London’s Paddington Station where Mr. and Mrs. Brown discover him wearing an old hat and duffle coat, sitting on his battered suitcase with a note attached to his coat that reads, "Please look after this bear. Thank you." The Brown family take him home and name him “Paddington”.

Paddington is kindhearted with a love of marmalade and an endless capacity for innocently getting into trouble, yet, he tries so hard to get things right. Just like the Brown family, readers have taken Paddington into their hearts and he has become a much-loved character. In fact, British tunnellers chose a Paddington soft toy as the first item to pass through to their French counterparts when the two sides of the Channel Tunnel were linked in 1994. YOTTOY’s Paddington collection allows parents and grandparents, who enjoyed Paddington and his adventures in their own youth, to share their love for Paddington with their children and grandchildren.

Bringing Beloved Characters to Life

YOTTOY (“toy” spelled backward and forward and pronounced yàht-toy) is a specialty toy company founded in 1995 with the vision of bringing beloved characters to life to inspire children’s imaginations. As a mother, YOTTOY founder Kate Clark understands how important toys are to kids in helping them develop emotional and social intelligence through imaginative role-playing. By helping characters from beloved children’s books come to life, YOTTOY encourages creative play and provides many opportunities for meaningful moments to be shared between generations—especially during story time.

All the magic happens in YOTTOY’s sunny design studio in the heart of New York City where all toys are designed and developed in a playful, creative space with bright bouncing colors, bustling with creative energy. YOTTOY’s products are all officially licensed; we take great pride in ensuring that our products are of exceptional quality and we are intensely focused on capturing every precise little detail. Because of this, YOTTOY was granted sole licensing deals for the most beloved characters, such as Paddington Bear and Madeline. YOTTOY was also the first company to develop toys based on the books of Mo Willems, a New York Times best-selling author and illustrator and a winner of numerous coveted awards. In addition, YOTTOY has an extensive collection that ranges from high-profile and timeless classics like Madeline, Eloise, Corduroy Bear, Babar, Frog & Toad, The Velveteen Rabbit and Little Golden Books to contemporary favorites, such as Greg Pizzoli, Poodlena and Auggie from the We’re All Wonders book that was turned into the hit Julia Roberts movie Wonder.
