The weight actually controls his tremors while trying to eat. They definitely do what they are designed to do! The size of them is also beneficial for a man's hand. They are a lot easier for him to use for sure.

I've a slight tremor in one hand from an accident years ago. These were actually recently recommended to me very recently. I didn't know they even existed. I've bought two sets as they are just the answer I needed. Even when we go out to eat I take a set with me as it's no problem and they alleviate the threat of a spill.

It would have had the highest rating if the knife and the tines of the fork were a bit sharper. I could cut items more easily, and spear such things as spinach and romaine, and it would be easier to eat salad. The weight does decrease my tremor. I'm still practicing, and the weight does make my arm tired, but I will get stronger. When I eat in public, I carry my utensils wrapped and tied in a colorful napkin, and just tell the waiter I have my own utensils. My friends are impressed with the good looks of the utensils.Thanks for the catalogue. When I told my financial advisor about the variety of aids available, she asked for your address so she could share it with other elderly clients who are likely to benefit from some of your array of offerings.

Bought this for my relative with Parkinson's based on an Occupational Therapist's recommendation. Likes using the silverware, which helps keep the food from slipping before it reaches the mouth. Selected this set because it looks most like current silverware, as opposed to the ones made from plastic or have colored handles, so they don't stand out from the rest of the table settings. They do blend nicely. However, individual does not like the larger spoon as it does not work for capturing food or soup, with the household dishes, so it doesn't get used. Would be better to have two of the smaller spoons so can use a separate one for dessert, when needed. Despite that, I'm going with a 5-star rating anyway as the other three pieces are perfect.

In a world where weighted silverware screams, "I've Got A Problem", enter KEatlery, the flatware of tomorrow.Seriously, though, KEatlery weighted utensils are gorgeously formed, only slightly larger than the average flatware set and beautifully useful. They balance perfectly even in my smaller hand, while successfully reducing unwanted activity in that hand.Dishwasher safe and shiney, each utensil is sold seperately [most often] and a full set will cost just under 50 dollars. If you have a need of weighted utensils, you will be very pleased with these. They can be taken anywhere, but they look like the average set and therefore aid in integration.The 'teaspoon' has a deep bowl I wouldn't recommend using as a measuring spoon. The soup spoon has a slight lip. Both features help prevent spillage. The tines on the fork are proportionate to the size. The knife is great for spreading and sports the typical grade for cutting.I find the weight perfect for my purposes. They are never too light, but do not exacerbate fatigue.I highly recommend KEatlery. An attractive product such as this could improve your life more than you may have guessed.

I bought this product after reading positive review expecting to help my dad's temors while eating. They are heavy utensils but did not help his control while trying to eat. I felt, with a little instruction on holding, it may have helped. But then his caregiver cut a finger on the tines of the fork. We are now aware that the fork tines are very sharp and not at all appropriate for a disabled, bed bound person. If my father had cut a lip, tongue or gum, he could easily develop an infection. Very disappointed in the quality. The fork is dangerous.

I bought the weighted silverware for my Uncle who has a very strong tremble in his hands and was only eating a few bites of food at a meal. The silverware has made a very big difference for him, it’s much easier for him to eat now. I also purchased two other items that have helped restore his desire to eat by making it easier to work with his shaky hands.First, the Ableware bowl he uses for cereal and his Mac & Cheese - Ableware 745340000 Scooper Bowl with Suction Cup Base, Blue. Second, the Parson's Scoop plate which keeps the food on his plate instead of the table.I just bought a second set of everything for my Grandmother who was resistant to the idea of special silverware and dishes until she saw the difference it made for her brother and tried his. Now she’s looking forward to receiving her set.

My 96-year-old friend loves this cutlery! She has Parkinson's Disease and her tremor was causing her to spill food all over her clothing and the floor whenever she ate, but now she doesn't drop a bite or a drop! She was skeptical at first, especially when she felt how heavy each piece is, but as soon as she began eating, she was sold! Now, she has a special place in the drawer for it and she uses it for every meal and snack. She no longer needs to use a napkin for a bib or wash her shirt after each meal! I am thrilled. Yes, this is expensive but it is well, well worth the investment. It restores dignity and normalcy to mealtime which is truly priceless. Update: She uses the fork and soup spoon when she makes coleslaw to mix the ingredients together! (Yes, she still cooks at 96!!)
