Lodge 7.5 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid – Dual Handles – Oven Safe up to 500° F or on Stovetop - Use to Marinate, Cook, Bake, Refrigerate and Serve – Caribbean Blue

Description:

  • YOUR GO-TO DUTCH OVEN: A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit. The Lodge Dutch Oven not only makes your kitchen look good but is an enameled cast iron classic great for preparing and serving memorable meals. Broil, braise, bake or roast your favorite meals in the oven up to 500 Degree F.
  • WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON. It is glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
  • EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists staining. Although enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep your Dutch Oven in tip top shape
  • HEAT RETENTION: The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating throughout both the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture for scrumptious pot roast, stews or a large batch of beans. Our heat retention also reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.

Heavy duty. Beautiful. I have been thinking of buying this Dutch oven for several years and finally decided to get it. I made the best pot of chili. Heating was even and fast. Cleanup was a breeze. It’s heavy and massive so do not think you’ll just be tossing this around the kitchen. I absolutely love it.

Love this Dutch oven. It cleans up great. The food cooks evenly. It is rather heavy which is great but for the sake of storage, if you have to lift above your head, you need strong arms. 😀

Bought this Dutch oven to make boeuf bourguignon. The Lodge is heavy and beautifully made. The ceramic coating makes it a snap to clean after cooking - just follow the manufacturer's instructions - no metal utensils, no harsh abrasives to clean. Love this "pot."

Ok first I must disclosed that I purchased this for my husband with the goal of getting him to cook more often. That said, we totally love this Dutch Oven. I provided the Dutch Oven, a recipe subscription, and showered him with praise, but the jokes is now on me. In this magical pot he has produced restaurant quality meals repeatedly and he love it. As far as the pot, it large enough to make meals and leftovers, it’s easy to clean, and looks great even when it’s just sitting it the cabinet and now I know what it’s like to have a wife.

This Dutch Oven is absolutely beautiful! I read a lot of the Reviews here before deciding to purchase the 7.5 quart Dutch Oven. I recently threw out my large non-stick large stockpot because the coating was peeling. I was looking for a non-toxic replacement that I could use for soups, stews, boiling large amounts of pasta, etc.I haven’t cooked in it yet. I will update this review after I have used it for a few months.I wanted to post a Review now before I cooked in it because I read a lot of reviews which stated people were receiving damaged pots out of the box. Others complained their pot was damaged the first time they used it. My Dutch Oven came tripled boxed. I’m pretty sure this is to protect it in transit. It comes with rubber protectors between the lid and pot. The Owners Manual states to use these when storing it. The Manual also gives directions for heat levels and seasoning with oil the first time you cook with it. I am a home cook. I knew I needed to read the Manual thoroughly because I have never owned an enameled cast iron pot. I learned things I may not have thought of before cooking in it the first time. So please, take the time to read the directions for cooking, cleaning and storing. I think a lot of the negative reviews wouldn’t be here if purchasers took the time to read the Manual/Directions. This Dutch Oven is a naturally created pot. The enameled finish is made from glass. There are some slight bumps that are just a normal part of a natural finish. You need to treat this pot with care when cleaning and storing.Bolo is offering Returns through the end of January due to Holiday gift giving. This also swayed my decision to give this pot a try. If I’m dissatisfied after cooking in it, I know Bolo will take the return in the original boxes and refund me!Update 3-28-25I have used my pot many many times to make various soups, stews, bolognese sauce, cook pasta, bacon, sausage, etc…I love this pot! Cleans up easily. I use a sponge with a scrubby side for anything that may stick. If discoloration takes place on inside bottom, I spray a little Clorox Cleanup with bleach and let sit a few minutes, use my scrubby side of sponge and color us back to original off white.

After spending some time learning how to cook, I decided it was time to try out a dutch oven. It was really worth it. I have been using the 7.5 qt one for a couple of weeks now and I am not disappointed at all. It cooks quite well and is a good size. It can be quite heavy, but all dutch ovens are. I have not seen peeling or scraping of the enamel and the color is quite nice. As long as you are careful with the product it should last quite a long time, without the price tag of a Le Creuset.Cleaning this dutch oven is quite easy! I have burnt stuff in the dutch oven and it came off easily without any of the enamel coating being scraped off. Enamel is glass that adheres to the cast iron at a high temperature at around 1200-1400. I would still recommend using plastic and silicone whisks and spatulas to not scratch it.( Lodge also recommends this)For the size when it comes to cooking, I highly recommend the 7.5 qt, since you can cook almost all recipes in it without a problem. Just remember the size difference when it comes to being fit in the oven, and the weight is bigger than the smaller ones. Just remember the whole thing is cast iron and that means every part of it will be hot! Be Careful! When it comes to comparison to the Le Creuset, I believe it holds its ground quite well. We actually know someone who gets a discount for them and we were able to get a Le Creuset cheap and it was a smaller one though (3.5 qt). I believe they are quite similar, although the warranty from Le Creuset is awesome, from what I can tell from the construction, they are extremely similar. If you are just starting out, I would recommend buying this one and you should not be disappointed. I have not had the chance to compare it over the long term, but so far it is quite good.

If you are on the fence about a dutch oven - get this. Almost everything I make in a slow cooker I've made using this dutch oven and may never use my slow cooker again! From stove top to oven recipes, this thing is magical. Heat disbursement is far better than I expected. The item I received has no blemishes and arrived very well packed. KEEP THE LID SAVER TABS!!! This is packed well and includes rubber tabs that fit over the pot lip for the lid to rest on - you would NOT use them for cooking, but definitely want to use them for storage. This dutch oven is very heavy so be mindful of that - it WILL scratch your countertops if you're not careful.I always add some cooking oil to coat the inside evenly before cooking and this will help with clean up. Use a mild dish soap and sponge and it will clean up easily and last a lifetime. Highly recommend - and get the biggest one you can, you will be glad you did!
