About this item:
Lubegard Platinum ATF Protectant is a uniquely formulated transmission technology used to convert regular Dexron/Mercon ATF into OEM ATF types. They can perform like highly friction modified ATFs such as: Honda Genuine ATF, Toyota Type T, Toyota Type T II, Toyota Type T IV, Mopar ATF + 3 (7176), Mopar ATF +4 (9602) and others. Lubegard is the number one product used in the transmission repair industry because it's the only product of its kind that has LXE technology. It is an award-winning technology that has gained the use and approval of multiple major car manufacturers and has been the written solution for transmission problems in eight car manufacturers technical bulletins. The professional transmission technicians use Lubegard to convert to dealer-only ATFs, but also to supplement depleted additive packages found in factory fill ATF (the original ATF your vehicle came equipped with). It provides the same (and in some cases better) performance characteristics of a dealer ATF with the added benefits of instant relief from shudder, slipping and noise. It also provides long term protection of the fluid and transmission itself from heat and wear. In order to find out if your vehicle came equipped with Mercon V fluid, Lubegard has the industry's most comprehensive listing of all makes and models, with factory fill and also the appropriate Lubegard conversion product if an alternative is needed to dealer-only fluids. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Follow LUBEGARD ATF Conversion & Refill Chart for proper ATF conversions or use as a protectant with any OE ATF. For normal applications, add 1 oz. (29. 6 mL) per quart (Liter) of ATF to the total transmission capacity (including torque converter) with motor idling in park. Do not overfill. Do no use with Ford Type F ATF or in CVT’s.

5.0 out of 5 stars An expensive transmission or a $14 bottle of this?

This product does what it is says. It extends transmission fluid life, smooths out harsh shifts and will eliminate torque converter shudder. Many people flat out neglect their transmissions. In some cases it can help those people too. It will not fix loss of a clutch plate or any other mechanical issue, but whatever the heck is in there most certainly improves the performance of your transmission. I add it with every fluid change and continue to enjoy a smooth shifting trans with no shudder.
5.0 out of 5 stars I thought it was a gimmick. It's not!
I have a GMC 2018 Denali with a 6.2 engine and 8-speed transmission. At about 45,000 to 50,000 miles, I started getting this shutter when leaving stop signs in traffic lights. Also, it started bucking between gears. At first, I thought it was the road, but one day I had to give my wife a ride to her appointment, and she says to me, "what the hell is wrong with your truck?" Lol, she has always had problems expressing her thoughts. That's when I realized that it was the truck and not the road. I called a GM dealership and they had a technical bulletin that suggested flushing the transmission fluid and adding a new transmission fluid that should fix the problem. And it did for about 10,000 mi. About 3 months ago, it came back with a vengeance. A stronger shutter and bucking between gears. Especially when slowing down. I had known about lubeguard, but I thought it was probably just a gimmick. I have a very busy job and it's hard for me to get my truck to the dealership. I called them first and for some reason, they didn't have any information about the flush that they did. I knew it was going to be a hassle. So I read a little bit more about this lubguard and decided to order 2x20 oz bottles. 40 oz As recommended. I also ordered a cheap pump. If your like me and put things off because, well because. Let me tell you what I did.Pulled my truck into the garage, I got a 10 mm wrench, ratchet with 10 mm socket and a pair of needle nose pliers. In order to add this fluid you have to get to the fill plug which is behind the heat shield. You only need to take off the front top bolt and front side bolt. After that, you can pull the shield down exposing the fill cap. Next, I couldn't figure out how to make sure that I only took about 40 oz of transmission fluid out of my truck. I decided to just get a Tupperware bowl and pour one of the lube guard bottles into it. I took that empty bottle with me under the truck. I loosened the drain bolt, positioned my drain pan, and quickly caught the oil with the bottle after removing the bolt. I filled The bottle to the same point as where the LG oil was. I put the drain screw back in, dumped out the fluid into the drain pan, and then undid the screw and caught another 20 oz. After that, I put the screw back in cleaned up any oil, and slid the pan out of my way. I used a rag to clean all around the fill cap before removing it. I didn't want any debris falling inside. After that, I sliped my arm around the exhaust pipe with a pair of needle nose pliers. After a few attempts, I was finally able to remove the fill cap. Went to the front of the truck and pop the hood. I grabbed my new pump and slid the drain side hose down through the engine compartment, close to where the fill cap was. Went back under the truck and placed it inside the fill cap hole. Went back to the front of the truck and put the suction hose inside the Tupperware that I use to hold the first bottle of oil. Turned it on and sucked all the oil out of that. When it was done, I shut the pump off checked underneath the truck to make sure there was nothing spilling. I grabbed the next bottle and pump that one in. After I finished, I cleaned up any oil that may have spilled around the engine compartment. Which really wasn't any. Went back underneath and took the drain hose out of The fill cap hole. Cleaned the fill cap and pushed it back in. Bolted the heat shield back into place and wipe down any wet areas.Clean up the tools, wrapped up the hoses and put everything away. I started the truck and hoped for the best. Now this is only a day but I am not kidding, 95% BETTER. I was shocked, It was better right away. I cannot predict how it will be down the road, but I did read a lot of forms about people that did this and some claim to be over 40,000 mi since adding lubeguard, and still have not had a problem. All I can say is, as of right now, awesome!

New sealed bottle of fluid treatment formulated to help with the GM 8L90E and 8L45E transmission issues like shudder and harsh shifting. I’ve not tried it yet but a transmission shop recommended it for my Camaro SS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved me $7000 transmission replacement
took 2017 Cadillac Escalade to "reputable" mechanic and was told I needed a new transmission at a cost of $7000. Did some research on the internet and found Lubegard. $30 and 15 minutes of my time adding it to my transmission fluid and problem solved. Not sure if it will cure every issue, but sure cured mine.

Volvo S80 D5
Sorted my Volvo s80 D5 autobox within 20 miles after a full fluid change, bottle of this and some lubeguard instant Shudder fix. Brilliant product.
Perfect for ZF transmissions
I never thought I would put an additive in a ZF transmission, however I decided to take a chance with this one as my auto was starting to feel a bit tired. I am very glad I did the auto is now running better than ever, enhanced shifting patterns, staying in correct gear for longer, cooler and absolutely butter smooth changes. It took a good hour of driving for the electronics to relearn the new friction properties and then presto absolutely perfect. Don't be scared this product is excellent and is also backed up with OEM recommendations and approvals.
