I had a plumber refurbish my shower valve in my guestroom bath -- replacing the old 1980s Delta ball valve with a modern Moen cartridge valve. That entailed making a hole in the drywall on the other side of the wall to expose the back of the valve.Rather than immediately hiring someone to patch the drywall, I thought I'd leave it open for a bit to ensure it doesn't eventually start leaking, so I ordered this Watts 14"X 14" Spring Fit Access Panel. The hole is taller vertically than horizontally, but the panel went in perfectly and is much better than guests looking at a hole in the wall. It fits tight, and doesn't rattle, and looks nice enough to allow me to wait until I have painters in the house for some other reason.This solution is a bit pricey for what's effectively a piece of plastic, but I wasn't able to find anything close to the right size locally, and I'll have the panel available when I eventually get my other shower redone.

I love that this is spring loaded. It makes putting the panel in and taking it out very fast. I have it in a 15x15 hole, but it’s definitely meant for a max of 14x14 due to the spring mechanism. I ended up attaching a piece of wood with some super glue to the end of the spring so it could work in the larger hole and it works. It matches well in my white wall.

I ordered this panel to cover an access hole made by a plumber working on pipes in our basement ceiling. It was quick and easy to install, but one of the teeth broke off when we inserted it into the hole. It still worked, and hasn't budged in several months. There is a small gap between the plate and the ceiling on the side with the broken tooth, but it isn't really noticeable unless you look for it. Overall, we are very happy with the panel.

Most wall access panels are a very specific size and shape, requiring a hole cut to size. If you have an *existing* hole or box that you want to add a cover for, and it's not one of the exact standard sizes, then they won't work.This panel is one of the very few options for that situation -- it has a spring-loaded slanted catch that grabs the edges of a wide variety of hole sizes. You can just kind of pop it over whatever ragged or odd size hole you have and tuck the spring catch in there and it will hold flat and flush.The main downside is that it's not a "proper" access door with a hinge and a handle. I find it easy enough to get off (just fingernail behind it and use a little force to pull it out) but it's not something you'd want for a place you use every day. For things like plumbing-joint access service panels though it's fantastic. (Side note: I wish more houses had access panels for things like shower valves...!)You can also paint it if you want it to match the wall color, though I didn't bother (it's in a closet anyway).

Perfect! We had to cut a hole in the wall of our master bedroom closet in order to access the plumbing for our shower. For years, it has just been an ugly hole in the wall! Too large to patch, we just figured we'd end up having to cut a piece of drywall and "fix" it. Trouble is ... we were afraid we'd need to access it again someday so we just left it -- it was in a closet afterall. I took a chance on this because the hole in my wall was about 13 x 14 and it was not a perfect square/cut. My husband is normally a perfectionist but when he cut this hole... he obviously did not take his time.When this arrived, I opened the box, took it upstairs, looked at the back and popped it in. No instructions required! I placed the two "feet" in the bottom of the hole, pressed down on the top foot that is attached to a springlike mechanism, pressed it close to the wall and let go. It looks like it was custom made. No more visible hole and it is easily removed in case we need to access he plumbing again!I looked at other options on Lowes.com and such but they all included doors and cost upwards of $50. This was just under $20 and is more than adequate. I couldn't be happier with this purchase! What a great find!

I've had a 13" square hole that a plumber had to cut out in order to access the the hot/cold water pipes from the other bathroom. He screwed the square of drywall he cut out into a stud with 2 screws, which left it eyesore. I didn't want to tape, patch, and repair in case we ever needed to access these pipes again. This cover instantly solved the problem! I can't believe how easy it was to put in. It lays flush, so looks good. I would recommend this product!

Purchased multiple units of this product, and they work perfectly! We painted some of them as well, and they blend right in to the wall. They are a great option if you need to cover up a a hole in the wall, but still need to access it in the future.
