I bought these to replace a 10 year old pair of the same item. I like the simple style! The leather is very stiff but I am breaking them in without much discomfort to the sides of my feet around the ankles, and my toes. A big drawback is the cushioning provided by the inner soles! This brand new pair has the same level of (non) cushioning today as the old pair I have worn for 10 years! The soles of my feet ached after about 30 minutes of walking! I felt I was walking barefoot on not-so-smooth concrete! I am going to buy a pair of Dr. Scholl's pads to see if that helps!

Bought these for my boyfriend for Christmas to replace the identical pair that he has worn for several years (which means they hold up very well). Very comfortable. Ran about a half size larger than normal, so he had to get a half size smaller.
1.0 out of 5 stars Warning - Design Change - Very Uncomfortable - Don't buy these shoes now
I previously really liked these shoes and have been wearing Dockers Shelters since before 2016 and have placed several previous orders through Bolo (most recently in Jan 2021) - so believe me when I tell you that the design has changed and the new design is really bad/uncomfortable. Here are some reasons why: 1) the internal fit around the upper arch area at the bottom of where the laces are is now VERY tight. It is difficult to get the shoe on (and NO, I have not gained weight). 2) the rim around the ankle is now very stiff/uncomfortable. They have removed the black padding "ring" that went around the top of the shoe where it contacts the ankle - and what is left is pretty uncomfortable. 3) the shoe itself is unnaturally stiff - both the "leather" and the sole of the shoe. Even after treatment with neatsfoot oil and heat, it remains stiff. Additionally, I have been trying to wear them for several days, but they have not loosened up. Walking is pretty awkward. Neither the leather nor the sole bend naturally, which leads to an uncomfortable an unnatural walking motion. I have done everything that I can think of to help the shoe - including neatsfoot oil and stretching on a shoe tree. 4) Arch support has disappeared. The stiffness of the sole is certainly not helping things, but the current insert does not provide support. I even got an aftermarket insert to try and give me more support. However, I have just ended up being frustrated and disappointed. Don't buy these shoes - you will be disappointed. This is very unfortunate because I really liked these shoes for many years - but this design change is a killer.

I love this pair of shoes. Has the business look and I can walk around with confidence just about anywhere. I do real estate residential appraisals and do a lot of walking around, from nice homes to foreclosed properties with items scattered all over. I won't have to worry about stubbing my toes, or step on thumb tacks and get hurt. Beautiful shoes!

They are a solid shoe that lasts. If you polish the uppers, they will last a long time (yes, I know that only a grandpa polishes shoes, but I am one now.)
