Description:
Sounds so good it must be illegal! Man made ivory. Compared to standard materials, you'll hear crystal clear bell-like high end, big open lows, and a noticeable increase in overall sustain. Unlike natural materials such as bone and ivory, TUSQ is consistent from piece to piece. Without a doubt, this is the best synthetic material on the market, and it cuts and files beautifully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality nuts
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I purchased these to complete restorations on a few very old acoustic guitars I'm working on. One, the 1935 May Bell had an old wood nut badly broken and crumbling. This was a perfect replacement nut, fitting an looking just right after some alterations. Almost every single new nut or saddle bone has to be ground down to be a perfect fit.I prefer low action so took the height down a bit and needed to grind the width down a bit too.I would have preferred using bone but wanted to stay with the original colors and this one will last another 80 years.I bought an extra one for a future project. The price was right. I am glad I made this purchase, it's just what I was hoping for. It will actually improve the sound of the guitar over the old wooden nut and I wouldn't ever consider using a plastic nut. I don't know why some manufacturers even use plastic, Bone and plastic are about the same price.Anyway, this is a 5 star purchase
5.0 out of 5 stars Great nut!
This nut absolutely cleared up my tuning issues on an Epiphone LP Studio. Strings are easy to tune now and they stay in tune. Only wish the nut had been a little truer to the original size, but i get that the nut has to accommodate a range of different guitars. It was a bit taller, wider, and thicker than my original one so had to do more sanding. That being said, I'm glad I got this! Didn't even need graphite or anything to help lubricate it more.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for an Epiphone SG 400 Pro (and an Epi Les Paul Special- VE)
I bought this for my Epiphone SG 400 Pro. Installation was surprisingly easy- a gentle tap on the original nut loosened it for easy removal (it was held on by 2 small drops of glue). I did not have to modify the height or width of this nut as it was near-perfect (I carefully measured with a digital micrometer). I only had to sand off the length of the nut (each side to ensure symmetry) with some 400-grit sandpaper. The result was a fit that was as perfect as i could have hoped. The nut itself is a huge improvement over the stock nut and the strings no longer bind in the slots. The Epi SG came with a white nut, but I decided on this black nut to match the headstock. I like the look, but the white version of this would have been fine too. For a very modest cost, this is a big improvement.Update (11/13/17): I purchased another identical one of these TUSQ nuts for an Epiphone Les Paul Special (Vintage Edition- VE). As with the Epi SG, this greatly improved the guitar's tunability. Great upgrade!
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome aftermarket nut!
It's a great nut, better than most that I've used. I had to file some of it which is normal when installing a new one one most, if not all, guitars. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a better nut or sustain, tone.. I give it 🤘🤘!!!!
4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the stock nut!
Now I have several reasons to like this new nut. It fit really well and the slots appear well laid out and carved. My giant Ernie Ball Heavy Bottom 52 gauge low E string needed a little fitting to sit snug in the slot. The rest of the strings fit well. Working with the material is EXTREMELY easy! I just sat a piece of 800 grit on the table and sanded a little off each edge until I reached the length I needed. Since it went on a Chinese Epiphone SG the fit of the fingerboard to the neck isn't perfect anyway. the material is super easy to shape. Cannot even see sanding marks after using the 800 grit. Dropped it right into the nut slot after lightly cleaning out the glue from the stock nut. Used a tiny drop of superglue to secure it and used a capo to clamp it down. I don't think the sound is as bright as the plastic nut, but the more I play the more I like the current tone. Maybe later I will get a set of saddles to compliment the nut. Don't think I would try this on a Stratocaster but the EPI was really easy to remove the old nut. Just tapped it with the edge of a hardback book and it popped right out. The new nut is a much better fit than that...Oh, I did all this on my bunk while deployed.
5.0 out of 5 stars This nut is great. Improves my guitar's sound and tuning stability more than I expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit for my Michael Kelly Patriot Decree Guitar!
This was a perfect replacement for the factory nut. I did file a very small amount off both ends as the width was just a tad too wide. As to the string heights, I used #120 sand paper on a flat surface and carefully sanded the bottom to get the string heights to between 0.15 to 0.12mm at the first fret. I do not recommend filing the slots themselves as then you will have to file down the top of the nut to have the nut shaped properly which is a lot more work. The string depths in the nut as set by the factory are perfect. Filing the bottom is tedious but fool-proof. You sand, reinstall, check the string height and repeat until you get the clearance you want. Go slow with this and it will be perfect. My guitar plays as smoothly as my Gibson Les Paul R9.
5.0 out of 5 stars Will not fit Epiphone sg later then 2014
This doesn't fit Epiphone SG tribute later then 2024. You 6061-00 that Bolo doesn't stock.
