Each piece utilizes an underglaze blue printing process created by Josiah Spode, which is still employed today. The varying shades of blue and white give depth to each piece, enhancing the lovely setting. The central scene decorating each tableware piece is based upon a late 17th Century drawing depicting Italian ruins in a pastoral landscape, while an 18th Century Chinese-inspired pattern adorns the outer edges.
