3.0 out of 5 stars A creepy tale with twists
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } An unusual story about a girl going from one bad relationship into another one, even worse. Midway through the story there is mistrust and murder! I couldn’t understand how Kelly kept going from suspicious to madly in trustworthy love and those feelings kept reoccurring for many chapters. The reveal at the end on whodunnit was unexpected and I appreciated how the author offered some positive closure at the end.
4.0 out of 5 stars Wow and not sure
I found it hard to put down. The ending was a surprise but very believable. However, I didn’t like the protagonist, Kelly, at all, not at the beginning, not in the middle, not at the end. Nathan and Sabrina are not much better. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why in the epilogue, we even get that information. It was not necessary. I wasn’t even wondering about it or needed to know. The more I think about it the more it makes me believe the writer, who is very good, doubted herself. How did publisher even let her go there. Now, except for the epilogue, the writer might have written this with the purpose of just telling a pretty good story with all the characters unlikeable. If so, she did a great job.
5.0 out of 5 stars A unique, enthralling queer thriller!
This may be one of the most unique thrillers I've read in a while. As soon as I read the summary for this book, I knew it would be right up my alley. Queer characters toeing the line on societal norms, with a bunch of plot twists and mysteries along the way? Yes, please. I even stayed up until 1 am because I couldn't put this down. I ended up devouring it all in 24 hours tops.I saw a few other reviewers online saying this was more of a romance than a thriller, but what I loved was that it had elements of both – but only the best parts. I'm not a huge romance reader, but the passion and romance that blossoms was beautiful to read about.The growth we see along the way from our protagonist made me a bit emotional. I found her weak in the beginning and it frustrated me from time to time, so when we start to see that growth, it's truly moving and had me rooting for her until the very last page.The plot twists were perfectly sprinkled throughout, with a few jaw-dropping ones at the end. While there were a handful of twists that had me actually shocked, I also have to give credit to the overall mysterious vibe of the story as well because you really find yourself questioning who you can trust from start to finish.Overall, this was an incredible read! 2.0 out of 5 stars trudging
This booking felt to slow and like it was achingly slow. Had I known it was about a couple opening their marriage up not once but twice and what occurs from that I probably wouldn’t purchased it. I would assume very rarely does opening your marriage end well. I didn’t like the character of Mike. He wasn’t likable. Honestly there wasn’t really any likeable characters in this story. Sad. It talked about Nathan’s boring job, Sabrina’s job as a successful author, Kelly left her super awesome job behind for Mike and was trying to be a trad wife I think but that didn’t pan out, Beth is a grifter. Kelly really wanted children desperately. Nathan and Sabrina were just pawns in Beth’s big con job. Why did Nathan hold her head under water where she was drowning? Why didn’t they have cameras in the house besides in the bedroom? Why didn’t they lock their offices if they are secretive about their work? Lots of plot holes. Also I think Mike was having some sort of affair with his colleague and that plot was just dropped but I think he gaslit he and I don’t think she was wrong. Women’s intuition isn’t often wrong and he showed all the signs . I didn’t enjoy this book. It seemed to try to be sexy and it wasn’t. It seemed to try to be a lot of things and it was just slow and painfully drawn out.
3.0 out of 5 stars Decent plot but a bit slow
Something was lacking with this one for me. It was mostly entertaining, and a unique plot that I kept thinking was building towards something that never really happened. There is a twist, which wasn’t that surprising, but it felt like an easy out. I didn’t find any of the characters particularly likable. It wasn’t slow or boring enough to stop reading, but in the end, it just felt like something was missing.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good read!
Andi was def channeling the master of tension and suspense (Madame A Christie) in this one! So many moments of this story kept me on my toes.Good pacing. It moves quickly.The characters were all shifty but well developed.It's a sexy thriller taking place at the heart of Covid lockdown featuring a throuple and murder.I ate it up: Yum yum!I loved it, just wished there was a tad more spice 😜 because ya girl was here for ittttt! 🤣
5.0 out of 5 stars incredible twists and turns
This. Is. The. Best. The twists are the best!!!! You will think you know but you have zero clue!!!! This was a wild ride from the beginning til the end.10/10 recommend.
I couldn’t put it down!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } What a gripping and unpredictable story!
boring and slow
This book was so disappointing, boring and slow. I was waiting and waiting for the something to happen and all it was a desperate girl in her head. I do not recommend it.
Terrible
Crisp, if derivative, writing, and a good plot that exhausts itself halfway through the book. Then it’s just gears grinding and whiff smoke.Tedious exposition and ludicrous twists.A struggle to finish, too bad!
