5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality book!

I was pleasantly shocked to discover it is an absolute wealth of information and a downright beautiful book full of high quality photos. Even my wife was floored by how nice it is and she couldn't care less about building or anything of the sort. I've been showing it to everyone who comes over and my Dad looked at it for an hour! Buy this book. It is an heirloom of information! It's so nice I'm happy every time I look at it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best design build book I have purchased
I'm a mechanical engineer. I enjoy woodworking and building. In reviewing this book, I give it 5 stars. IF YOU ARE BUILDING AND OUT BUILDING OR CABIN, this is a book you should have. It covers all topics from placement to design to tools to materials, framing and finishes. There are many, many pictures and diagrams tolead you through the process. Bravo 👏 for a great book.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, additional plans are very expensive.
This book as a standalone is great. It is well written, easy to follow, and very detailed. It is laid out in sections which explain every step of the construction process with a few most common examples of how to do each step. The end of the book is a detailed breakdown of a selection of plans, probably the most common things people buying the book would be looking to build. As an example I wanted a garage / barn, I am building one out of this book. Right up to the last section this book is great, the very end is a gallery of other things you can build and a link online to get those plans with more details. This is where it kinda falls off the rails for me. I know they need to make money, and these plans all represent someones time to make them , but thousands of dollars for unsigned copies only available in 8 or 5 copy sets without being watermarked "not for building use" is pretty crappy. I wanted a book to help with the how to and ideas for the layout and this book on its own was great for this ( I got a few other books from here that were not good for what I wanted). Overall I recommend this book, but if you need plans for your permit office look elsewhere.
5.0 out of 5 stars From the ground up, everything you need to know.
If building a shed had a bible. This would be it. So happy I did not waist money on a set of plans for 20.00. Not only do you get allot of plans, there are step by app builds for the foundation up. This book is great for Simon was never built anything. Also you won’t waist money using there material list..
5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive DIY Building Resource
I recently dove into the "Ultimate Guide: Barns, Sheds & Outbuildings, Updated 4th Edition" for some inspiration and guidance on my latest project, and I have to say, it's been an invaluable resource. What I appreciate most about this book is its detailed step-by-step instructions. Whether you're planning a simple shed or a complex barn, the book covers everything from initial design considerations to final construction details. The variety of plans provided for over 100 different outbuildings ensured that I could find something suitable for my needs. The diagrams and illustrations are clear and easy to follow, which made it easier to visualize each stage of the building process. This helped me avoid potential pitfalls and ensured that my construction was on track. One thing to note is that some sections, while comprehensive, might require additional research depending on your specific building codes or environmental considerations. However, this is more of a general observation rather than a significant drawback. In conclusion, the "Ultimate Guide: Barns, Sheds & Outbuildings" is a must-have for any DIY enthusiast looking to embark on a building project. Its wealth of plans, detailed instructions, and practical advice make it an essential tool in my workshop.

5.0 out of 5 stars It’s a great book what else can I say!
Great book!
Questionable. Has some use certainly
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } More of a step-by-step guide on construction techniques. Can be useful for some inspiration. Also has some plans. But practicality is limited. Information is not very detailed.
As good as new.
The book was as good as new, I am confident that it will be very useful.
Ideas para contruir
El libro es útil para recoger ideas para nuestro proyecto, en mi caso una casita en el jardín, en este libro hay ideas para todo tipo de construcciones, pero no me voy a poner a construir una casa, con un pequeño cobertizo suficiente.
Re-use and recycle
We deconstructed an addition (structure on the right) to our cottage so that we could add a perimeter wall foundation. We saved the material and, based on this book, we’re confident we have 90% of what we need to build a shed. Yay
Well illustrated and clear !!!!
Amazing and very detailed book !!!!! thank you
