Like "oh yay twighlight was so good" (insert valley girl accent here). I was wrong, not just another who done it, theres a reason people are flocking for this book. She's actually a fantastic writer, the beginning makes you think it's kinda vanilla but in a good story way then all of a sudden your neck starts to hurt from all the hits your taking, your eyes are bugging out of your head, your family is wondering why your screaming alone on the porch, your dogs are worried, your kids have to make their own supper because you can't just leave it at that, what the heck just happened until the very last page. WHAT JUST HAPPENED. I'm not gunna be the same. Im probably not gunna sleep tonight because im gunna read the next one now because my brain will not shut up now. WHAT THE HECK FREIDA!
4.0 out of 5 stars definitely a good read
I would have given it a 4.5 if an option. But 5s I save absolutely mind blowing, life changing books. There’s nothing negative about the book or the story at all, but for me 5s are sacred. This book reads smooth and easy, it has great pace and development, the characters are interesting and have mystery about them, the story is exciting and interesting leaving the reader wondering what’s coming next. The ending is very satisfying and gives the reader closure. My favorite part about the book is that the author doesn’t fill pages with unnecessary information that you just want to skip over. She gets to the point quickly, she describes the scenes with the perfect amount of detail to provide the reader with exactly what is needed to understand and visualize what is happening at that exact moment. There’s no extra fluff. Even when she takes us into the thoughts of the characters, she does it minimally but with enough precision to perfectly understand the characters’ state of mind. The Housemaid is a perfectly packaged gift of a book, and I enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to reading the sequel.
5.0 out of 5 stars What an AMAZING thriller with many twists!
WOW! This book kept me intrigued from the first page. I wish I had all the time in the world, I would’ve finished it in one sitting. I would literally wake up in the morning, not being able to wait to open this book to continue. It was THAT thrilling. The twist in this novel were remarkable and incredible. Loved loved this book. Cannot wait to start the next book in the series later on.
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended Thriller
This is the first time I read a book by Freida McFadden and now Iam hooked! Every time I thought I had figured the story line out there was an unexpected twist and unpredictable ending! If you enjoy thrillers, you are in for a real treat. This is the first of a series of 3. Follow this one by reading “The Housemaid’s Secret” and then “The Housemaid Is Watching.” I just finished another novel by McFadden called “The Inmate.” Loved that one as well!
4.0 out of 5 stars Twisty and Twisted
I thought I knew where this was going, and while I guessed a little of it, there was so much that caught me by surprise! We follow Millie, recently released from prison and down on her luck, interviewing for a housekeeping job. The job requires some cooking, cleaning, and some childcare, and they do require her to move in. Millie, currently sleeping in her car and in need of a job desperately before her next parole check in, happily accepts the offer when it comes her way. At first, everything seems fine, but things go quickly downhill - making Millie uncomfortable, to say the least. As she spends more time with the family, she learns that things may not be as they appear - and danger may be closer than she thinks. This was addicting! Freida has a way of writing that makes you question your own thoughts as you read - as Millie begins to question her new reality, I felt as though I was going crazy with her. I deliberately put the book away at one point because Nina was driving me nutty with some of the things that she was saying.I really enjoyed the twists in this. There was such a satisfying ending. I'm looking forward to reading the next one, too!
5.0 out of 5 stars 1st book I've read in 10 years- hopefully this is a start of my book collection
Bare with me i dont usually leave reviews and my reviews guna be a bit all over the place. lol.Ok so I dont read. Not a reader guys... I was literally experiencing brain rot from too much social media so I was like. Ok maybe I just need to be in a quiet place and read a book with a cup of coffee. So I just went to Bolo at like 3am and typed in "good book" and I was like "oh ya I'm sure maids know a lotta dirt" so I bought that book. (Yes I judged a book by its cover) - and weird side note about me. I haven't read a book cover to cover in 10 years. Since like sophomore in highschool . And so now in my painfully progressed adulthood I actually don't get comfortable reading. I'm not bad at it but I don't have comfort in it. There's a certain reluctance. So all of these reasons I was like w.e. let me buy a book that looked interesting and ya. Great. Great book. There were so many parts where I was like "AHHHHHHHAIDIWIW" YK? Like in a movie. Hahaha. (And then I google they're actually making a movie from this. Figures they chose sydney sweenie as the young one and Amanda seyfried as the old one. FIGURES.) ANYWAY. highly highly recommend. I bought another book by the same author next. I'm hoping to develop a collection or books for me to read. And I can have a collection of books that like I can look at and say "yaaaa I read that" - and develop less than a fear and discomfort each time I read a slide or article in professional school. Haha. Hey, maybe? Anyway. Imma use this review space too to thank McFadden. Yk? Thanks. And i find it cool that at the end of the book she like thanks the reader awh?! Uhm. What else. Oh ya! The actual quality of the book. Ya had that New book smell. It smells like a nob-coffeed Barnes and noble. NawwMean? Alright that's it. Definitely give this a read! It's good as heck! And all the characters are modern like they've got iphones and stuff I'm only used to the "to kill a mockingbird" like. .. non computer time- books. So. Ya.
can’t stopped reading , amazing book!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Amazing totally addictive. The type of story that you just can’t stop reading till you finally understand what it is really going on. can’t wait to start the next one and see what Millie does
A gripping page turner!
This was a fascinating story with several curveball twists. I anticipated a couple of them but there were always several more. I found myself laughing at times even though this is a far from humorous story, particularly towards the end. I am impressed with the authors ability to create such a complex plot and weave such interesting characters together in one story. I read the book in two days!

Polecam!
Dotarły szybko i w świetnym stanie, polecam!
Love it!
A book full of twists and turns that keeps you hooked until the very end! English is my second language, but the story is still easy to follow and understand—yet it never fails to surprise you along the way. If you’re an English learner who loves psychological thrillers, I highly recommend it!
