In addition to regular devotional times of reading Scripture and prayer, every few years I challenge myself to read completely through the Bible within a year's time. I've used several of these Tyndale One-Year Bibles in various translations to get a fresh perspective each time. Every day's reading features a selection from Old Testament books (plus separate short portions from the Psalms and the Proverbs in the Old Testament) and a reading from the New Testament books. This ESV translation is a smooth, easy-to-read version of the Bible. Of necessity, even with onion-skin-like paper, the thick paperback will take up room in your suitcase on vacation if you want to stay current, but it's sturdy and well-made, so it can take some wear and tear. I highly recommend this introduction to regular Bible reading for those who have never done so--and to those more familiar with the Scriptures who want a disciplined approach to all the wisdom, encouragement, and life-changing truth found therein.

My husband and I do the daily lessons together. Many ways to use as a study guide, everyday has readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm and Proberbs. This year we are reading them as a whole unit everyday. The next four years my plans are to only read Old Testament one year, New Testament following year then Psalms reading and the last year Proverbs. Each time I read the Bible I find information I missed or understand more in depth. We are really enjoying the way this book is set up, no need to have a Bible on hand, the whole Bible is within in daily readings and studying together brings us closer. In one year we will have read the whole Bible.

My husband and I read this aloud together every night. It has been great to be reminded of God’s truth. It also gives us an opportunity to discuss different verses and stories. We have often read through the Bible in a year by ourselves but this is helping us do it together.

I like that this Bible gives you an easy structure to follow a long and read the whole Bible in a year.Structure of the plan. Everyday you get couple chapters from the Old Testament, a couple from the new, a chapter from Psalms, and a few verses from Proverbs. Those ratios change everyday, but you can always expect a little from each section. This structure is great if the Old Testament bores you since you get a little from everywhere.One thing I personally didn’t like is there’s no titles while you’re reading. In typical ESV bibles there will be a title give a small explaination of what’s to come. This is a title that wasn’t included in the original manuscripts, however it’s very helpful for someone that’s newer to the Bible. For example if Jesus is going to pray at Gethsemane, there will be a title that says “Jesus prays at Gethsemane. But with this plan none of those titles exist. It’s not a big deal since those aren’t authoritative anyways, but I always appreciate them.

Love the one year bible. I wish I would’ve started it years ago. There is an Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and one proverb each day. This Bible (not all one year bibles) actually bolds a verse each day to meditate on or memorize. I think that was a special feature.
