Description:

STUDIES IN THE BOOK OF JOSHUA This guide to Victorious Christian Living is not about a theory to be admired but an experience to be enjoyed. The greatest need of the Christian Church is a revival of the New Testament standard of living. There seems to be a wide gulf between what we believe and how we live, a marked contrast between our position in Christ and our actual experience. Too often we claim to believe our Bible from cover to cover, but fail to live out its truths in daily conduct. The spiritual emphasis of the book of Joshua is to move the believer beyond conversion into the land of promise that awaits us here and now. This book is written with the fervent prayer that the Lord may use it for His glory to help many people face afresh the implications of the Cross and the pattern of God's redemption in personal life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A deep but manageable study into the book of Joshua

Love this book! It was not an exhaustive study of Joshua but pulled out some amazing truths found throughout the book that have timeless application.

Good book - well worth the investment

5.0 out of 5 stars A map for every Christian

M.T. · October 24, 2025

Like M. Lundeen who reviewed this book earlier, I too attended Hillcrest and this book was the basis of a Bible class. I regret that I left school without a copy of it. The author has excelled in drawing practical applications for living the Christian life from the book of Joshua. I would rank this book in the top 5 books every Christian should read. You won't be disappointed.

This book has been a real game changer. Just ordered the second book he wrote. Can’t wait. He puts everything right there for us to understand. Love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good study on the book of Joshua

P.-.A.a.r. · March 27, 2023

Finished this book recently and really enjoyed how Alan breaks down the book of Joshua. He doesn't go through each verse but gives more of a passage by passage approach through the book. The insights he gets from it for the modern Christian are very good. I would recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book made an impact on me in high school, 47 years later I know why.

M.L. · October 26, 2019

I attended a Lutheran high school and this book was taught in a Bible class. It made an impression on me then and I’ve thought about the book many times through the years but I couldn’t remember much about it other than the book’s title.I was curious to know if it would have an impact on me all these years later or if I would even agree with it as my theology has changed through the years. What I discovered as I reread it now is that not only do I agree with the author, I discovered that his teaching has profoundly influenced my changing theology through the years. When I first read the book in the early 70’s it sparked an agreement within my spirit, revealing truths of the Christian walk that were not addressed by others in my church experience.Through the years while the actual words of this book faded from my memory they were reinforced and developed further through the teaching and books by people such as Neil T. Anderson, Mark Bubeck and Dallas Willard and many others. There is a deeper experience and life to be realized and Mr. Redpath invites you to experience a victorious life.I don’t have another 47 years to wait to read this book again, I’m rereading it starting now.

Really worth the read still.....

"Jesus attended a local church every Sunday: No! Jesus is Jewish and a Rabbi, therefore He would have attended his local synagogue but surely not on Sunday but on Shabbat, which is Friday evening and Saturday. I am annoyed with people who try to westernise Jesus. Why can't things be left in the original context? This is packed with errors as the author based asumption of Christ death on his oecumenical faith and never checked the Jewish calendar, he put the death of Christ on Nisan 10, when the 10th is when they bring a lamb home to keep & care for as one of their own and on Nisan 14 (leviticus 23: 5),They were to sacrifice the lamb and put the blood on the lintel and door posts: the angel of the Lord seeing the blood would passover, spare the house. The lamb be a reference to the Lamb of God: Christ himself. He was not raised a Saturday but on a Sunday! Jesus died on Nisan 14. Besides Jewish day do not work the same than westerners, the day are not named but numbered. Since his work is based on oecumenical faith (refer to easter, which means his dates follow the oecumenical church which refuses to align with the Jewish celebration of Passover but replaces it by Easter which is another calendar altogether. Easter is not Passover. However, that said, the teaching itself is of excellent quality and the exhortations really worth the read.

A great book

A great book- full of truth. A must for those who want to move on and be open to that fullness of life in Christ.

Such a great book! So blessed for read this book

T. · February 14, 2022

Reading this book is such a blessing! I'm buying all his book I can find.Joshua was a history/story book to be before, and felt so far away from me. But reading this book, my eyes are opened to so many layers of meaningful things. Alan connected Ephesians with this book, and like a mirror, talking about Joshua and the people on one side, talking about Jesus on the other side. You can see God's faith and love both in how He helped Joshua and the people, and also how Jesus fight for us. This book helped me to understand more and deeper for what Jesus has done for us. For sure I see my life in a different new way.The wording is gentle, full of love, and precise. Many times when I highlighting, I found I need to highlight the whole paragraph, one after another. Feel like Alan is talking to me, like an old friend, as a kind wiseman, right here in front of me. I can see how sincere he is when he wrote this book.Love this book, highly recommended!
