5.0 out of 5 stars Patient Friendly

I am a Nationally Certified Orthopaedic Technologist who has gotten plenty of use out of this book. It is written in everyday terms that virtually every patient can understand. It explains the injury/condition, has illistrations, and gives exercises to do at home. If you are heavily involved with your Ortho patients as I am, it will come in quite handy.

This is a handy reproducible book. The explinations of rehab exercises will eliminate much doubt for the PT or ATC as to the ability of the athlete to understand what is expected of him/her. Very clearly written and excellently illustrated. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sports Medicine Advisor: A Must for Nurse Practitioners

D.E.H. · June 24, 2003

I have found Sports Medicine Advisor extremely helpful in my practice as an NP. My peers consult it regularly. It really helps patients understand their injuries and it gives them an important role in their own recovery. They can take some control over their rehabilitation, have a better understanding of what happened to them, and how to prevent recurrence of their injuries. As an NP educator, I have recommended the book to my students for the past four years in two of my courses. It is on my bibliography and I endorse it wholeheartedly. It is a unique, easily understood text for both the beginner and the more expert.Students are eager for information around orthopedic and sports injuries and this text provides them with a practical, common sense approach to evaluation and management of orthopedic injuries. Students don't always buy books that are recommended, but they have embraced this book as essential to their learning and a valuable resource for their clinical practice. They also see that their preceptors in clinical practice use the book very frequently.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for those with active lifestyles.

R.T. · June 17, 2003

The Sports Medicine Patient Advisor is excellent. I have referred to the book, unfortunately more than I would like, because of my sports related injuries such as sprained ankles, lower back problems, strains and others. Also, my kids have also benefited from the information. I especially like the way it's written, easy to understand without a lot of text. Also, the illustrations are fantastic; they augment the text well and make it easy to follow the rehabilitation exercises. The Sports Medicine Advisor represents the best in its category, a great example for other similar books. I would like to thank the author, Dr. Rouzier, for helping me through physical challenges of an active lifestyle. I would recommend the book highly!Richard Thompson

This is an outstanding book for the sports medicine provider and for the professional/amateur athlete. It is very thorough and also very practical in its orientation. It serves as a quick reference for those who see patients with sports injuries in clinical practice. Also, it is helpful for those seeking information about a particular sports injury they have sustained. The patient education hand-outs are invaluable for patient eduation re treatment of various sports injuries. This should be on the shelf of any rpovider who regularly sees sports related injuries.

Very good all round information for Sports Therapists

Still use this 15 years down the line

An incredible resource

I'm currently training to be a massage therapist with a view to moving to sport massage afterwards. A tutor recommended this to me because its free from copyright, so one can copy the various stretches and info and give it to your clients to take away - far better than a hand scribbled diagram and relying on them to remember what you showed them. There is information about a wide range of conditions with diagrams showing what the problem is and exercises/stretches to help. This is not a tool for diagnosis - that's not a massage therapists job - but it is a very handy tool nonetheless.Yes, it's expensive (more bearable second hand) but its worth every penny.A few of my course colleagues have since purchased the same having seen my copy.
