A timeless treasury of more than 100 stories from the incredible kingdom of plants, told by author and nature expert Ben Hoare.

Plants are found almost everywhere on Earth, but to many people their lives are a mystery. This fascinating book for kids explores the vast plant kingdom and explains how plants work, as well as the weird and wonderful relationships they have with animals.

Children can discover the secrets of more than 100 amazing plants in this treasury of fascinating flora, as well as the essentials of plant science, including photosynthesis, pollination, and germination. Each species is shown with remarkable photography and beautiful illustrations, all brought to life by Ben Hoare’s writing, filled with charm and infectious enthusiasm.

Each page unveils stunning photography and delightful illustrations, making complex botanical concepts both accessible and engaging. I found myself chuckling at the quirky facts—who knew tulips once cost more than houses? However, the book's substantial size and weight make it a bit unwieldy for bedtime reading. Nonetheless, it's a treasure trove of knowledge that I wholeheartedly recommend for curious minds young and old. citeturn0search0

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Book for Science Curious Kids

H. · November 7, 2024

Our family does a lot of nature study and I bought this book as something the kids could grab to explore and to learn on their own. It includes well designed and not cluttered pages, vibrant photos and illustrations brief but intriguing facts. It is not an exhaustive plant study book. ( I do wish it had more because it’s so lovely.) This book is more of a supplement in terms of learning and more of one to enhance curiosity and enjoyment in plants.

Best for children to introduce, bit of everything. It doesn't go much into details but okay. The quality of print and pages are excellent.

I purchased this book to add to my forest school kit. It’s perfect for providing digestible and interesting information for kids (and if I’m honest, novice adults who are new to the natural world). The illustrations are lovely and the book quality is really good. Highly recommend 🌿
