I love this book. I have so many watercolor books that I don’t use because they weren’t really helpful. First of all this book is beautiful, I love the way the cover is done. The instructions are step-by-step and so plainly written. There are many projects for one to learn from., I think anyone interested in learning watercolor would love this book. I cannot recommend it enough.

The media could not be loaded. I am enjoying this book very much. I plan to use it as a reference in the future. Concepts and inspirations that I often am looking for as a watercolor artist.It really is a calming book too. Sections are broken up into bite size pieces with a lot of illustration and photography. Really lovely book and I'm glad I purchased it..Content is solid without being overwhelming.

I bought this book because the cover was beautiful, the colors were peaceful and autumn-like, and based on the few preview images the rest of the content looked promising too. Now that I have had it for a few weeks, including selecting it as the only watercolor book to cart with me on a resent vacation trip, I can say it has become one of my favorites! All of the images throughout in the book are beautiful, plus the author has been thorough in her process of giving a well rounded instruction on both watercolor techniques as well as design composition. For my trip, I brought with me only 4 colors of watercolor paint (all Daniel Smith from Michael's crafts, small 5ml tubes :: quinacridone purple, quinacridone burnt orange, phthalo blue GS, and phthalo green BS) and with just those 4 colors, I was able to mix many colors which pretty much matched the look and feel of those in the author's designs. Great book!

I’ve ordered many watercolor tutorial books and this one is my favorite. This inspirational read is for any beginner who feels watercolor is very challenging. I would definitely recommend. I love the beautiful nature paintings and easy to follow instructions she gives. Great purchase!

What a lovely book! Not only is the book beautiful, Inga is also a very good teacher. The book is accessible yet rich. And if you're new to watercolor, this will give you great context to choose the right brushes and materials. I am actually a very abstract kind of person in some ways (who cares about materials), but some experimentation with painting over the years has shown me how much these details matter. Inga covers these kinds of practical details, AND she talks about things like form, composition, and color in a beautiful way, which is the mark of a really good teacher. It's so lovely to come across a book that is exactly what it's supposed to be and more. This would make a lovely gift for the holiday season too!

Painting Calm is a lovely book. It's both beautiful and useful at the same time. I was captivated by the carefully rendered water color illustrations and the instructions and exercises provided made me feel like I could really paint some of these things. I actually bought a water color journal while reading this book because I was so excited to try out these projects.At first I wasn’t sure about the book being so focused only on nature since my imagination runs to the more fantastic, but it really fit well. It didn’t feel restrictive as I thought that it might. There was even a section where Buividavice showed circle swatches that looked very much like planets and I loved that. That was the moment I bought the journal so I could try to paint.The section on watercolor brushes was extremely helpful. I knew there were so many types of brushes but it was really great to see examples of how the different shapes of bristles made different shapes on the pages. It sounds a bit silly to say it out that way, but it was great to be encouraged to play. To just make swatches and understand how to use your tools and not be intimidated by them. I really felt empowered to run out and try watercolor painting.I’m definitely going to recommend this book as a purchase for the library because I think it’d be a great way for folks to get their feet wet (pardon the pun ;D ) with this art medium.

I was surprised when I was 68 pages in and I still hadn’t reached the projects section! VERY pleasantly surprised. Inga’s explanations, descriptions and examples are spot on, encouraging and easy to grasp. I can’t wait to get painting !!

Very unusual yet exceptionally inspiring book
This book has everything you would want to know about painting flowers in watercolour. The appropriate strokes, colour mixing, composition techniques,etc.What makes the flowers in the book interesting are their unusual and somewhat moody, autumnal hues. It is quite charming (and atleast for me a little other-worldly in positive terms). Is useful for gathering ideas on elegant card-making and creating beautiful masterpiece florals on the walls, both.I adore the presentation( very compact )and the matted yet textured feel of the cover. With practice, even above-intermediate level artists like me( i still find it difficult to paint florals though) would benefit from the author's advice and tips.Nevertheless this book caters to all skill levels. Refreshing, truly motivational and highly recommended ! A cup of tea, my watercolour setup alongside this book goes a long long way ( with a seed of imagination ofcourse) to paint the flowers I dreamt of painting.
