Guided Art Therapy Card Deck: 75 Activities to Explore Your Feelings and Manage Your Emotional Well-Being

Description:

About this item:

Understand your emotions and let go of what’s holding you back with this empowering art therapy card deck.

Guided Art Therapy Card Deck allows you to use art as therapy, focusing on the inherent healing power of art making to manage anxiety and stress, improve self-esteem, and deepen your relationships with others and your inner self. In this deck of 75 activities, you’ll explore a wide range of artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, writing, collage, photography and digital art, sculpture, and mixed media, with each activity designed to be created using limited supplies. While traditional art therapy requires sessions facilitated by a professional licensed therapist, these activities and reflection questions, developed by licensed art therapist Emily Sharp, LCAT, ATR-BC, allow you to have a healing experience with art on your own, at your own pace.

This guided deck contains:

  • 75 unique activities suitable for experts and novices alike, including a full-color reference photo of each completed creation
  • Thoughtful reflection questions accompanying each activity to prompt insight, self-awareness, and self-compassion, and increase feelings of happiness and gratitude
  • Detailed instructional cards, including benefits, supply lists, step-by-step instructions, and estimated time commitments for each activity
  • Color-coded cards to help you choose your activity based on the supplies you have handy for the varied artistic mediums, with ranging complexity levels and time commitments for each medium
  • A concise guide booklet included with the deck, including a complete supply list, advice for getting started, a brief history of art therapy, and two indexes, listing every activity by medium and by topic so you can easily find the right activity for any given moment

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Ideas for A Group Therapy Program

C.F.S.G. · September 18, 2024

(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I work in a clinical program that offers group therapy and we are always looking for ways to introduce new group activities that will get the clients engaged and active. Art therapy is something that our clients love to do and it seems to make a meaningful impact. This set of cards contains a number of different activities that can easily be done with groups to help folks explore their feelings and express them. We tend to take a new card out every week. Like all cards like this, some activities are winners and some are not, but overall they spark good ideas and effective strategies for expression. Just remember to stock up on art supplies you may need to support implementation of these cards. Art supplies can be costly... Luckily this deck of art therapy ideas is affordable and useful. I'm happy with it.

These are a fantastic resource adding a lot of options to my practice as a therapist. I really love that they're split into various mediums as well as the detailed information on how long to allot for each exercise, the therapeutic purpose of each, and the directions on how to complete each exercise.

This deck of cards is actually a little bigger than i was expecting but that's a good thing because it makes referencing the card easier. I love how they guide you in art project for therapy purposes on its own while also promoting real emotional therapy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing for art therapy

C.K. · May 31, 2024

I bought this to use with middle schoolers and my 6 year old at home. The cards show what medium to use, the time frame they encourage to use, the directions, an example and various questions to help process the meaning behind the artwork. There are 75 cards and there’s a small packet that shows what cards go to each topic. It’s simple enough I can pull one out and the middle schoolers can follow the directions. I was even able to explain the directions to my 6 year old and she was able to successfully do one and process her meaning behind the work. I love it and I wish I had them when I was running expressive art groups for kids who experienced trauma. My phone won’t let me upload photos, but trust me it’s worth the money!

Useful and awakening

Nice ideas for exploring your emotions, letting go of perfectionism, re-discovering your inner child. Remembering how much fun it is to just paint, doodle, sketch, glue things together. The questions might seem simplistic, but they are worth exploring if you choose to use the cards for therapeutic reasons. You might as well forget the questions and just have fun and address your inner critic, your insecurities and your adult blah blah blah-ing

Inspirational and practical

M. · October 13, 2024

I really loved inspirations cards give me for working with diverse clients in counselling, particularly that there are ideas for different media you can use and adapt to clients affinities.

Good activities and easily explained

S.S. · April 15, 2025

I have been working through these cards and they are really good activities that are easily explained. I am training to be an art therapist and thought it would be good to be on the receiving end. Really good tool to use for therapists and individuals alike. Love the attractive box and handy cards.
