About the Author

Nancy S. Seasholes is a historian and historical archaeologist who works as an independent scholar. Her books include Gaining Ground: A History of Landmaking in Boston and Walking Tours of Boston's Made Land.

What an extraordinary reference book for the historical development of one of America's great cities. As Boston enters its fifth century this book reveals its core development and on-going growth. Many facets of the city are presented in an easy to engage format that gives the reader a comprehensive understanding of this complex and ever evolving metropolis. This book is a worthy acquisition for any New England library or any library on urban development. Great work.
