Last Saturday we dragged the “big telly night” out to the garden and, to my surprise, this little projector coped better than next door’s enthusiastic yet decidedly off-key karaoke session. It throws a crisp 1080p image and, even though it is really only specced for Full HD, it has no trouble playing 4K files from a USB stick. On a 90-inch white sheet the 350 ANSI-lumen lamp still looked bright enough once the sun slipped behind the houses.I was not keen on crawling around the patio with a spirit level, so the automatic vertical keystone straightened the picture for me. A couple of taps on the remote dealt with the motorised focus, letting me settle back into my deck-chair before the adverts finished.The stand pivots through 180 degrees, which means you can tilt the picture onto the ceiling for lazy bed-time viewing. It does wobble a little if you catch the table with your knee, but not enough to spoil the show. Streaming over Wi-Fi 6 from my phone was rock-solid, and Bluetooth 5.4 found my soundbar almost instantly. Because it runs Android 11 you can dive straight into iPlayer or Netflix without hunting for an HDMI cable while the popcorn burns.A single 5-watt speaker lives inside. It is fine for spoken dialogue, though action scenes feel a bit thin, so you will want a proper sound system to do them justice.Taken together, the sharp picture, easy setup and real portability make this pocket-sized projector a cracking way to build an outdoor cinema without emptying your savings.

Last Friday the weather lived up to its Glaswegian reputation, so we stayed in and tried the pocket-sized projector I had bought on a whim. For something no bigger than a chunky paperback, it punches above its weight. The native 1080p image happily handles 4K files from my NAS without stutter and the 350 ANSI-lumen lamp throws enough light to fill a two-metre screen in our dimly lit lounge, no blackout curtains needed.Setup took five minutes. I plonked the unit on the coffee table, let the automatic vertical keystone straighten the picture and tweaked the motorised focus from the sofa, crisps balanced precariously on my lap. The stand swivels through 180 degrees, so after the children's film I tilted it at the ceiling and they watched cartoons while lying on beanbags. The hinge could do with being sturdier though, as it wobbles when the kids treat the couch like a trampoline.Android TV 11 is baked in which means Netflix, BBC iPlayer and the rest appear on screen as soon as you sign in. Wi-Fi 6 kept every stream steady and Bluetooth 5.4 latched on to my ageing soundbar at the first attempt. It is just as well, because the integrated 5-watt speaker, while clear, lacks any real thump. The cooling fan is audible in quiet scenes, yet once the soundtrack builds it fades into the background.All told, for the footprint of a drinks coaster you get cracking picture quality, loads of sensible features and a fuss-free installation.
