4.0 out of 5 stars Stick With It: A Surprisingly Sophisticated Selfie Companion That Deserves a Standing Ovation

(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } If you’ve ever been mid-hike, desperately trying to balance your phone against a rock for that perfect panoramic shot, allow me to introduce a rather civilised solution to your photography woes. This all-in-one selfie stick and tripod hybrid doesn’t just *do the job*—it does it with style, stability, and a touch of clever engineering that suggests someone finally listened to what outdoor content creators have been begging for.Design & Build Quality: Sturdy, Slick and Surprisingly ElegantAt first glance, this might look like your average extendable selfie stick, but give it a quick unclip and you’ll realise it’s playing in a different league. The construction feels robust without being needlessly bulky—clearly designed by someone who understands that “portable” doesn’t have to mean “flimsy.” The materials used strike that sweet spot between durability and lightness. It’s solid in the hand, reassuringly weighty without dragging down your daypack like an anchor. The tripod base is especially well thought out. Non-slip silicone feet lend excellent grip on uneven terrain, whether you’re setting up on a forest floor, city pavement, or the wobbly picnic table your mates insisted on using for lunch. It stays put. There’s no nervy fiddling or praying to the wind gods for stillness. It just works.Functionality: Seamless Transitions and Travel-Ready EngineeringThe real magic lies in its effortless transformation. One minute it’s a selfie stick, the next it’s a full-blown tripod—all without requiring a mechanical engineering degree or a silent scream into the void. The telescopic rod extends up to a very respectable 136 cm, giving you proper framing flexibility. Yet when collapsed, it becomes a neatly tucked-away unit under 30 cm long. It fits into a standard backpack pocket or travel pouch with room to spare for your charger, lip balm and that slightly squashed cereal bar.Weight-wise, it strikes an admirable balance: light enough to carry all day, yet reassuringly stable. It’s exactly what you want when you’re dashing through airport terminals or hopping from one scenic overlook to the next without wanting to sacrifice valuable luggage space for gear.Compatibility: Broad Appeal with Just a Quirky CaveatThis little marvel doesn’t play favourites either. It comes with a handy adapter that welcomes a wide range of action cameras, including the ever-popular GoPro and Insta360 models. It's essentially a universal welcome mat for your gadgets—unless, of course, you’re trying to attach something particularly fussy like the Insta360 Ace Pro. That one does demand an additional adapter (not included), which might cause a brief sigh. Still, for the vast majority of users, it’s an impressively versatile piece of kit.Final Thoughts: More Than Just a Stick With IdeasWhat we have here is a thoughtfully designed, multifunctional photography accessory that punches far above its weight—literally and figuratively. It’s the sort of kit that quietly becomes indispensable, whether you’re filming travel vlogs, documenting your hiking adventures, or simply trying to capture a group photo without cutting off Aunt Margaret again. It’s reliable, adaptable, and engineered with the kind of practical flair that turns a humble selfie stick into something a bit special. In short, if you’ve got creative ambitions and a passport full of stamps (or just a very photogenic dog), this is one bit of gear that’s absolutely worth the space in your bag.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better not at full extension, would benefit from a decent cradle if using a phone as the camera

Reasonable selfie stick performance and the included bracket is fine for GoPro as well as the Insta cameras.Note that there is no articulation at the top of the selfie stick so unless you are using the included bracket for Insta/GoPro, this won't work for regular cameras using the 1/4 20 threaded top.I've tested fully aluminium sticks and this is somewhat less rigid than that but a good deal less expensive.Overall this is fine but a bit wobbly at full extension. Handier for table top stabilisation.

    Soddisfatto

Sturdier, a little bigger, & cheaper than the official X360 selfie stick/tripod.

My better half uses an Insta360 camera in her professional real estate photography for virtual tours. She upgraded to the X4 about six months ago, and used the official X360 "selfie stick/tripod" that it came with... until it broke (surprising both of us, because it didn't suffer any real abuse since it's moved around in a "road case"). Looking at the reviews for the old official tripod (not this one), it's cheaply made and has failed an alarmingly amount across the Internet.... and statements like "The camera just snapped off the tripod, falling down a cliff into the ocean...." or "... It didn't last very long...." aren't uncommon. While we can only attest to our own experience, yet in light of this knowledge, it made sense to look for "something other than the official selfie stick/tripod" that remained invisible (in selfie stick mode) to the ultra-wide, near-complete sphere of viewing angle... That's not easy, because almost ALL conventional monopods have an extra-thickness to them (particularly near where the camera attaches) that shows up on our 360. (We tried that though)This Vkesen brand is a little bigger, taller, and heavier, the key differing specs are:- Max height 136cm instead of the original Insta360's 109cm.- Minimum packed down size: 29.5cm instead of 24.5cm- Slightly heavier: 307g vs the 216g- Includes a GoPro mount (which obviously doesn't come in the Insta360 unit)- Slightly cheaper than the X360 model. While the stick appears to be invisible in "selfie stick" configuration, to our X360, that said, like the Insta360 tripod legs, they DEFINITELY do show up when splayed out, and splay out further than the original model, given that the legs themselves, are longer. This is expected, and we clear it up in post if necessary. While the design is extremely similar to the Insta360 X4 selfie stick/tripod and operates EXACTLY the same way, it's bigger AND it feels sturdier. The legs are longer on this one and this helps with stabilizing the taller tripod. That said, given the still-narrow "mini tripod bottom" and tall top-heavy monopod column, it's NOT going to handle uneven surfaces, high winds, excitable pets, children running around.. so you need to have realistic expectations of a stand with this sort of design..... I believe how you use this tripod, matters. As a tripod, it would work well for indoor use, on a desk, or on hard/even surfaces. Which seems to be the ideal environment for this setup. As a selfie stick, anywhere is fine... if it's not abused and used intelligently... just be careful around cliffs with ocean views. :~)While I think the X360 camera is built for action, neither of the tripods mentioned here are built to the same "action standard". If you're using it for situations where extreme shaking, knocks/bumps, and potential for crashing is present... expect this to be easily damaged. The heavier model reviewed here, is still a very light-weight, lighter-duty device. I just hope it lasts longer than the original X360 selfie stick/tripod. If it doesn't, I'll update it here. All the best with your photography.

    TRES EFFICACE

    f. · 11 May 2025
