I was expecting twins, and while my little girl thrived, my little boy didn't and I lost him in pregnancy. I was told that the purple butterfly symbolizes the loss of a twin. My little girl was born with Down Syndrome, yet all of her Drs seemed so surprised at how healthy and robust she was. When they found out she was a twin, they said that when you lose a baby in the womb, their cells stay with you, and if there is anything that needs 'fixing' their cells will try and patch you up, that includes their own twin. Our dr said it was very likely our girl was literally 'helped' by her own brother to be as healthy as she is.So, I decorate one of our walls in the kitchen with purple butterflies, not because I'll ever forget my little boy, Tom. But so his sister can know he will always be a part of us. x 🦋
