4.0 out of 5 stars Portable family fun but certainly not 'giant' and a little pricey!
This larger version of the 4-in-a-row game can actually be a good bit of fun, especially for family get-togethers or a bit of friendly competition at parties. Children in particular are likely to love having a slightly bigger set to play with than the standard board game sized version, however, I must point out before you order based on the description ... it's certainly NOT giant. It's a decent enough size for a bigger than normal set at around 22 inches high (just less than 60cm), but this is only likely to be considered giant if you're a baby yourself! The actual 'giant' sets of this same game are playable when standing, but you couldn't play with this one in the same way as the gameplay would be knee height if you were standing, so you'd either need to be sitting on the ground or have this set up on a table to play comfortably.Despite the issues with the size description, the set itself is fairly good. The bright green and yellow coins make it easy to keep track of who's winning (or losing), the board feels well-made and sturdy enough for the garden or a day out, and it’s handy to have a storage bag included to keep everything together. The price is a bit steep at close on sixty pounds for this though (at the time of the review), even accounting for how well made it is, and particularly when it's not as big as they'd have you believe in word form. Thankfully there's a voucher available at present to bring this down a little if you really do feel like going for it, but it's an eye-watering price for what it is without it, especially as it's still really table top size like the regular Connect 4 board that's selling for closer to £10 currently. On the whole, it's a good version of the game if you can forgive the issues with the description and the value for money, making it a four star rating from me.
3.0 out of 5 stars Check the sizing!
Thought I’d grabbed a steal of a price paying £60 compared to the £80 on other websites thinking I’d bought a giant connect 4. Obviously I should have checked the sizing because when it arrived in the box I thought I’d been mugged off.Don’t get me wrong, it’s quality plastic (not the cheap type of plastic that will break after a couple of uses) but it definitely isn’t worth £60.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely game
Big enough to play but small enough to store, kept all the kids busy at birthday party
4.0 out of 5 stars Decent enough….but not ‘giant’.
Made from sturdy plastic, this is a lightweight outdoor Connect 4 set. The listing describes it as a ‘giant’ set. I wouldn’t really call this ‘giant’. Standing 57.5cm high, I would probably call this a medium to large set. Certainly, once we opened the box, the first thing we said wasn’t ‘that’s giant’. In fact, we both looked at it and said ‘I wouldn’t really call that giant’.Despite my partner’s slight disappointment at its size, she was still quite impressed with the way it functioned. Everything is well put together and feels like it will withstand a heavy handed play session. The main play board comes apart into two pieces. This allows it to be packed down to a much smaller size than if it was one large (notice I didn’t say ‘giant’) play grid. Once packed down into the included bag, it can easily be stored away until the next sunny UK summer’s day….that feels like a very long time away as we approach the clocks turning back for the impending winter months.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great qualiity
I have always loved Connect Four and this was great for the kids over the Christmas break to keep them occupied. Its extremely durable and "big" which is ideal and a fun alternative to the smaller board size game as long as you have the space! Highly recommend.
1.0 out of 5 stars Will not last long when played with by children
To flimsy,snapped
