When I built it, it had components that were at the top end of what was available, and still easily outruns most shop-bought machines today. But that doesn't mean it's as quick as I need it to be. I do a lot of photo and video editing, often involving very large file sizes. Although my CPU and graphics card are both still very capable, as file sizes get bigger, just being able to move them to and from the hard drive has proved to be a very frustrating bottleneck where overall speed is concerned.The smart advice, to speed up any computer, was always to add more memory, but even that only gets you so far. Mechanical hard disk drives have a limit to how quickly they can read and write data, and it is this that is now the primary reason for many PCs being slow. As a result, I'd spent some time looking at SSD drives, and how they could benefit meIn the end, I settled on the Crucial P5 Plus. Partly because it gave me 1TB of storage, and partly because it is PCIe4 compatible. My current motherboard is only PCIe3, but my plan is to upgrade it sooner rather than later, so the P5 Plus gives me some future proofing built in.Installation was simple, even after fitting a 3rd party heatsink to reduce the heat under stress. Check your motherboard compatibility first, for a couple of reasons. The P5 Plus is a PCIe device, and some SSD cards are SATA. Your motherboard may accept either type, but many don't, so make sure you have the right one. Also, not all motherboards have the fixing screw and spacer needed to secure the device in place, and Crucial don't supply them either. Assuming yours does, or you bought it separately, installation is as simple as can be. Simply insert the P5 Plus carefully into the M2 socket, and secure with the screw. The screw needs only to be just tight enough. Over tightening can damage both the SSD and your motherboard.Once I had migrated my OS to the P5 Plus, it became the time to test how quick it was. I'd done some testing with the existing hard drive, which took over 3 minutes to boot from cold, and just over 2 minutes from sleep, before the PC was fully usable.With the P5 Plus, the difference is eye watering. Now, from a cold boot, the PC is fully booted and usable in about 35 seconds. From sleep, it takes less than 10 seconds. Starting programmes is now almost instant, and reading/writing even the largest files takes no time at all.It is no exaggeration to say the P5 Plus has revolutionised the way I work. Had I known it would be this good, I would have upgraded years ago. SSD cards are getting cheaper every day, but you'll be pushed to find one that offers the same level of value for money that you get with the Crucial P5 Plus. It's well worth the investment and will make your PC feel like a new machine, for surprisingly little money.I have a spare PCIe slot on my motherboard, and I plan to add a second P5 Plus to that slot in time. It won't be as fast as the M2 card, as it will need to share the available bandwidth with the graphics card but, as a non-OS drive, I'm okay with that.If you are a serious computer user, you need one of these.

Awesome speeds, very quick and helped resolve my paging file issue, or was that due to the reinstall? Anyway, drive is very fast and the size is great for the price. Cannot really fault it.

I recently got my hands on the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe Internal SSD, and boy, did it inject a healthy dose of nitro into my rig! While I haven't dabbled in gaming with it (yet!), I've been using it as my primary OS drive, and the difference is night and day. So buckle up, and let's dive into why this SSD is an absolute game-changer (pun intended) for your OS and potentially so much more!First off, let's talk numbers. I put this bad boy to the test using CrystalDiskMark, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. The sequential read speed came in at a whopping 6495MB/s, and the sequential write speed hit an equally impressive 5090MB/s with a 1GiB data chunk. To put it in perspective, this SSD is so fast, it could give The Flash a run for his money! Jokes aside, these speeds are crucial for tasks involving large files, like video editing, making your workflow smoother than a hot knife through butter.The SSD didn't stop there, though. The 4KiB Q8T8, Q32T1, and Q1T1 tests showcased the Crucial P5 Plus SSD's ability to perform admirably across various workloads. These results suggest that this SSD can handle anything from gaming and AI applications to multitasking like a boss. Now, if only it could make my morning coffee for me...I should also mention that I tested the SSD in a PCIe5 slot of my MSI MPG Z790 Carbon motherboard, which can handle even higher speeds. So, it's safe to say that these benchmark results are pretty close to the SSD's real-life performance, making it a true powerhouse.Now, as I mentioned earlier, I've been using the Crucial P5 Plus SSD for my OS, and the results have been astonishing. It's like upgrading from a bicycle to a rocket ship! My boot times are faster than ever, and launching applications feels nearly instantaneous. I can only imagine the wonders it would do for gaming, with seamless gameplay and dramatically reduced load times, so you can spend less time waiting and more time dominating the virtual battlefield.In addition to gaming (theoretically, of course), this SSD would likely excel in AI and machine learning applications, where quick data access and processing are essential. Video editing and content creation would benefit from the SSD's high sequential read and write speeds, allowing you to edit your masterpiece without breaking a sweat. Even everyday office work would see a significant performance boost, so say goodbye to those pesky loading bars!This Crucial P5 Plus 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe Internal SSD is a fantastic addition to any system, offering top-tier performance for OS and beyond. Its benchmark results, coupled with my personal experience, make it a must-have upgrade for anyone looking to supercharge their rig.

On my Windows 11 system this drives is shown has having 1862.89gb of capacityEasy to install. Used Acronis True Image to move data including my c partition onto the new drive from an older drive.Performance of this stick is good4 stars coz you never get the advertised capacity.

All working in spare ssd slot in lenovo loq15arp9 ryzen 7, fitted to spare 2280 ssd "D"drive as ample data storage, good speeds for read and write as advertised does not get high temperatures during normal use or gaming. Need to format and initialize before use and set drive letter for personal choice.

Tremenda el cambio de velocidad de arranque del sistema y de carga de los programas, sobretodo el paquete Adobe. De momento con lasrgas sesiones de edición se mantiene a unas temperaturas muy decentes sin disipador, es estable y no me ha producido ningún error. Lo compré de oferta, o sea que estoy contentísimo :)La instalación es muy simple: basta con colocarlo con cuidado en el sitio m.2 de la placa, colocar el tornillo de sujección, inicializar el disco duro y a andar. Si como en mi caso queremos clonar el disco duro del OS en este, la marca Crucial pone a disposición de forma gratuira con sus unidades el programa Acronis para hacerlo sin problemas y de una forma muy simple y bastante rápida.Desde luego que tendría que haberlo instalado antes. No os lo penséis, una maravilla en cuanto a velocidades, tanto de escritura como de lectura. Completamente recomendable.

Klonade min gamla 250 GB systemdisk till denna och har nu kört med den i några veckor på ett Gigabyte Z390 Aourus Pro, med PCIe 3.Har fungerat felfritt, än så länge.Temperatur på runt 44°, med m.k. originalkylare.
