Using one test strip in the water and the colour chart, you can test and evaluate whether water values in your pond are safe to support a healthy ecosystem and thriving pond life. The general hardness (GH) affects the vital functions of pond fish, whilst carbon dioxide (CO2) is required for your pond plants to thrive. Nitrate (NO3-) is a nutrient that helps plants to grow. However, excessively high levels can be harmful to fish and promote excessive algae growth. Carbonate hardness (KH) has a direct influence on the stability of the pH value, which fish can react very sensitively to. The colour chart on the tin of the test strips can be used to evaluate whether the water parameters are within the safe range.
