I have these along with two bait stations to annihilate the family of rats living in my neighbours loft and visiting my kitchen on the ground floor. First night there was no takers, second night two dead rats and bait being eaten. Third night another one dead and more bait taken. Hopefully with this combination they will all peg it soon. The traps are well made and easy to use, I have a tiny chihuahua so I like the fact these traps are enclosed, however I still keep them positioned so she can not investigate them for extra safety as she could easily get a paw in so they are strategically but safely placed. All in all, well made and does the job it designed to do.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good for mice - not big enough for rats
Have successfully caught mice around the bird feeders. Rat however ignores traps as the entry hole is far too small.Easy to set traps, instantly kills and conveniently disposes bodies without having to touch.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good traps work well
Initially I was dubious about these traps as they had been down several days without any success. I’ve actually got cameras over seeing the area where they were & it irked me to watch 8 hours worth of footage of the rodents literally sitting on top of them but at no point sticking their heads in.I’d tried peanut butter, chocolate & biscuits to no avail. To say I was getting frustrated was an understatement as we also have 4 bait boxes out & the same again. The rats will stand on them to reach other areas but won’t take the bait.Being as j appear to have the healthiest rats ever living in my garden I decided to bait the boxes with the bird seed they keep breaking into containers to steal. Apparently that was the bait that works - aniseed flavoured bird seed. Who knew.So once I’d put some seed inside the trap I had 2 rats in under 12 hours. No idea how many more are left but I’ll keep the traps out for a while to be sure. So, because I keep birds I didn’t want anyone sticking their heads into these as they are not going to keep a curious bird out, so it was important to ensure they were out of reach at all times, as I don’t want to have any injuries or worse to something that these are not intended for. It’s also worth noting if you happen to have larger rodents then their death throes will literally bounce these traps several feet. I noticed the first one was not where I left it once triggered but the second one was caught on camera & whilst it’s fair to say I’m sure that death is quick as it appears to indeed snap the neck, the animal still thrashes about in the first few seconds & as such if they are not secured then expect to find them moved once triggered.Pleased to report that emptying & resetting is quick & easy & a dog poop bag is an ideal size to dispose of said dispatched rodents. The boxes are easy enough to get into but I cannot get the key back into the holder which is frustrating but not the end of the world. Not sure how I can clean the peanut butter out of them but that’s a problem I’ll worry about later as I’ll perhaps try hosing them out or maybe a blast with the pressure washer will suffice. My only suggestion for improvement (aside from the key thing) would be the red cable tie that’s used for setting/releasing is perhaps not ideal for someone with grip issues as it’s hard to hold if you have arthritis. I struggled a few times to grip it & pull it back enough to click into place so maybe something on the end like a bead would be better to allow people to grip it easier. But for the money they have worked out cheaper than the bait boxes & more effective with 2 confirmed kills in a short space of time once the right bait was found.
3.0 out of 5 stars Ok'ish
One trap sets fine, the other won't catch and set, I would send these back normally, but because I've used them, and Roland is still happily eating parts of my kitchen sink pipes, I've just using it as a bait box with some special food for the furry little s***, hopefully he will get some much deserved rest soon, or I'll need a new kitchen.
1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work, rats can escape and not an instant kill
Bought this after reading reviews and hoping for a quick instant way to kill the rats that have been visiting my garden. Easy set up but unfortunately not an instant kill. The rat set the trap off but then spent a fair while bouncing up and down and trying to wriggle free. The rat managed to wriggle free and escape the trap seemingly without injury. Super disappointed and now i can't even return for my money back.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally, something that actually worksWe had a bit of a rat issue in the shed and after trying a few different traps that didn’t do much, I came across this one. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting miracles, but I was really surprised by how effective it is.The build quality is solid — it feels like it’s built to last, not like the cheap plastic ones you usually get. It’s also really easy to set up. I used a bit of peanut butter as bait, and within a few hours, it had already done the job. No fuss, no mess, and definitely no escape.I also like that it’s a lot safer to handle than some of the older traps I’ve used. You don’t have to get too close when emptying it, and resetting it takes seconds. We’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and haven’t seen (or heard) any more signs of rats. Genuinely relieved. If you’re dealing with a similar problem, I’d say give this a go — it actually does what it’s supposed to do.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Company over and above customer service
Idea is excellent however the cable ties on both units have broken after very little use. However after making the company aware of the problem they astounded me by sending two new units and two extra cable ties. What incredible service. This is what happens when you deal with English companies. Excellent customer service
2.0 out of 5 stars Probably buy something else instead
I think these are poor quality. the lids don't stay closed, the traps don't always stay cocked or sometimes wont even let you cock them. I WOULD NOT buy these again. Disregarding the above, they are powerful enough for the job if you can put up with them.
