5.0 out of 5 stars Great gyro ball!

    A. · 7 August 2025

The media could not be loaded. The quality is quite impressive considering it was one of the cheapest I could find on here at the time - it winds up easily for easy start and once you get it going, it even lights up with RGB LEDs! LIT!Nice one, Aoxzcvpr!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gyroball with self starter

    G. · 26 July 2025

Contains a novel (to me anyway) self starter, wind the inner in the direction of the arrows until it gets hard to move, then release it to get the initial spin going. It works well, but it's not clear to me what engages it, sometimes you can spin it backwards for ages and nothing happens, sometimes it's there straight away.Does the usual stuff, hopefully it'll strengthen my wrists up a bitupdate - it seems pointing the winding hole vertically, as if it was sat on a table is what engages the starter

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and useful little workout

    A. · 12 April 2025

It took a short while to get the hang of starting it properly, but once you find the right rhythm, using it becomes oddly satisfying. It's completely mechanical, no batteries required, and it spins up quickly with a firm flick of the wrist. It's lightweight and easy to carry, roughly the size of a tennis ball. The LED lights add a lively touch when it's spinning at full speed. My nine-year-old daughter thought it was brilliant, although my three-year-old mostly wanted to throw it at the dogs.In terms of exercise, it provides a decent workout for the arms and wrists. I've used it while working at my desk to take a break from spreadsheets, and my wife has found it helpful during recovery from an injury. For under £12, it's quite practical, feels reasonably solid, and works well without any fuss. A simple way to keep the joints active on grey, rainy days.

2.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to make it work

    A. · 21 January 2025

This is an interesting little exercise gadget, and both my husband and I were looking forward to trying it out. We’re both keen on doing muscle strengthening exercises at home and like trying new equipment. The torque ball is sturdily made, and it comes with a safety strap to hold it on your wrist in case you accidentally let go. However, I can’t seem to make it work. I’ve looked at the video and tried it several times until it made my wrist ache, so now I’ve given up. I suspect I might be doing myself more harm than good. My husband was sure he would be able to use it correctly, but he ran into the same problem. He tried numerous times, but it just isn't as easy to use at it seems in the video. If we ever have any success with it, I’ll update this review.

Very good quality, fuss free starting mechanism. Also much quieter than its peers

3.0 out of 5 stars Not an easy technique to master.

    B.T. · 27 February 2025

Positives:-Solid construction - weighs 265 grams with safety wrist lanyard attached.Relatively easy to start the Gyro Ball rotating.Gyro Ball user manual included.Negatives:-Have found it extremely difficult, and at times impossible, to keep it rotating for very long.Incorrectly described on the Bolo UK website as “Self-Starting”.Observations:-Came in an overprinted cardboard box, which contained the Gyro Ball in a CPE bag, with a User Manual loose underneath the bag.Conclusion:-Although I have tried on several occasions over a period of a few weeks, I have yet to master the technique.Starting the Gyro Ball is not a problem, but I am still unable to keep it rotating for very long.I will keep persevering in the hope that I will eventually overcome this problem, but at the moment I can’t see what I have been doing wrong, as I have followed the instructions in the User Manual.

Remember to use the safety strap

    Nice... work very good

Easier to start than "manual" ones.

    J. · 19 June 2025

I don't want to come off as a handheld gyroscope snob on this, but I probably will, and in all truth I probably am. This one is alright, though it lacks some of the fit and finish that some (probably pricier) other ones have. The one thing that it DOES have going for it, is that you don't need a piece of string or great finesse to get it started. It has a built-in spring, so you just wind the center ball back with your thumbs, and it gives it enough of a kick to get you going, once you know how. Because of this, I find that I use it fairly frequently just because it's easier to start than my other ones.Regarding my fit & finish comment, the silicone strap around the outside does seem a bit thin, and is easy to shift around. Plus it is significantly noisier than my other ones, especially when you hold it still and let the inner ball rattle around. My guess is that it's slightly off-balance (maybe due to that nice starter spring?). It's also not quite as luxurious looking as the main product pic indicates, but it does the job. I thought the inner sphere was going to be stainless steel, but it's just some other shiny metal surrounded by plastic. Not a deal breaker by any stretch, though. There are also other models that include a counter on the top (or sometimes embedded into the spinner itself) which is really the thing that I miss not having on this one, but I guess the price reflects the lack of that option.Once you know how to use these, they're fairly entertaining. My experience is that usually I use them pretty frequently for the first few days, walking around the house and annoying everyone with the consistent whirring and rattling. Then it sits on a shelf for a long time, but then I notice it again after a few days or weeks, and repeat the process. At the current price of under $20 compared to the amount of minutes/hours I've used it, I'd say I've got my money's worth already, so no complaints there. If you are not super dexterous though, or have small hands or weak wrists, it might be something that you stick in a drawer forever. I've had a wide age variety mess around with these in the past, an I would also say that they're better suited for teens and adults, and not so much for smaller kids.Every brand touts the exercise benefits of these, but honestly I think this is minimal; I've used them for years, and if that were the case I should have forearms like Popeye by now, which I do not. I view it more as a physics toy.IN CONCLUSION: 4 stars for meeting my expectations of what this device should do. The built-in starter spring is a nice touch, and it works as expected, albeit a bit rattly.

Kind of meditative, kind of excercise-ish; requires some practice

    R.H. · 12 June 2025

So I do a lot of typing during a day. Too much typing, and too much sitting. I can always use something that fits on my desk that I can pick up and quickly work out my hands, wrists, or arms to help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. This torque ball definitely fits into that category. It is fairly straightforward to get going, but it does take a little work to figure out how to make it into an exercise. I had to pay attention to the instructions that state clearly to work slowly to get the ball properly wound up. Ah, such sage advice. And its true. As with so many other things in life, success comes from starting slowly and not just sprinting towards the finish line. In fact, its working at its best when its well and truly wound up. Then you just need to keep it up for 15 to 20 minutes. This is the first of these torque balls I've ever used, so I can't compare it to any of its competitors. It's pretty brittle plastic, so I certainly wouldn't want to drop it from any great height onto anything hard. It does come with a wrist lanyard, though, so that shouldn't be an issue in normal use. It also has a flat spot on one side where you can set it on your desk and it won't roll around, which is nice. It does flash a little, but not so much that it is super distracting -- I think you could get away with it even if you have a cubicle mate; honestly, the whirring of the gyroscope is probably more irritating, and is it really this torque ball that triggered them to attack you with a plastic spork, or the fact that you always microwave fish for lunch in the office?I can say that after doing about 10 minutes with it, I could feel the work in my brachioradialis, a muscle that I've had some issues with in the past. If I have found a new way to work that muscle that doesn't involve putting pressure on the elbow or wrist, that's a good thing in my book. It's not something that happens immediately, and finding, then maintaining, the right rhythm to wind up the torque requires some concentration, at least for a beginner. I suspect that once you get proficient, you could get it wound up and keep it wound up and look like a total pro, and no on would ever know that you're actually thinking about the Roman Empire or sports or whatever, the whole time.

Well made, easy to use and fun.

    C.M. · 28 July 2025

The media could not be loaded. This is my first experience with a gyro ball, and it seems well-built. At $13.49, it offers a good value for money. While there are undoubtedly more expensive balls with higher quality, this one performs exceptionally well for average use. It’s a fun toy that I enjoy playing with at my work desk for a quick wrist or forearm workout. One feature that sets this gyro ball apart is its spring-assisted startup mechanism, which some others lack. This makes it much easier to get the ball going. Once you get the hang of it, changing speeds and maintaining the ball’s momentum becomes quite straightforward. However, it’s crucial to remember to wear the wrist strap, as the ball can easily slip away from your grasp as your hands get sweaty and your grip weakens, especially when you increase the speed. The lights are a fun addition but not strictly necessary. While others may find them fun, they’re not particularly visible unless you’re in a dark space. Notably, these lights don’t require batteries; they’re powered by the ball’s speed. The included instructions are minimal but provide a basic guide to getting the ball started. I’ve also found YouTube videos helpful in discovering various exercises you can do with the ball. It’s fascinating how the ball makes movements more challenging and can effectively tire out muscles without the need for weights.
