5.0 out of 5 stars Where are my 24 disks to install Windows?? (not a tech review)

I was never quite sure whether it would be ready for work on Monday.I have, and have had, several Macs and have been running Windows 11 on a VMware virtual machine (Intel MacBook Pro) for a while. I was proud to be an early adopter of Apple stuff (from eMac onwards) but I think they have lost their edge - from a software and PC perspective. I will, however, never (say never) give up on my iPhone or Watch. So, I made the radical decision to switch back to my roots - native Windows, this time on a Microsoft machine (I used to be a Thinkpadder). Well - I'm happy (save for having a free weekend to do some gardening). Build quality, keyboard, processing power and battery are all excellent. Great display (remember those days when you bought a new laptop and the thing you dreaded most was how many dead pixels you would find on the first boot-up?) - Oh, yes, and it's a touch screen. Works really well too - when I remember that I can use my fingers or stylus to poke at it. I installed Visio 2016 - Microsoft retained my licence keys, which is another bonus. The setup process automatically configured the HP printer settings (along with many other settings) from a copy it took of my previous Windows VM. Couldn't believe it at first - had to print a document to verify. In summary: I feel like I've just come home from a long trip away.
1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
Positives:The laptop is quiet when runningApps run quickly when being opened/usedKeyboard and screen both seem good qualityNegatives:Many apps are poorly optimised for the processor, onenote for example can’t upload word documents or powerpoints as printouts (a function which my 10 year old surface pro on windows 10 can do just fine). I spent 2 hours with Microsoft support who eventually told me that this is a known bug with no current fix. After searching on the internet this bug has been prevalent for over a year and Microsoft have done nothing to rectify it.In the three days of using this laptop it has been beset by issues. My OneDrive has stopped working tonight and so I am factory resetting the device to see if it will fix it.Laptop is surprisingly slow to turn onNot compatible with laptop pensOverall I don’t see any clear benefits over a £300 laptop and this feels like a complete waste of money. I chose a top spec laptop expecting it to have excellent functionality and it has failed miserably so far in that regard. My 10 year old surface pro is slow but otherwise better in all the key areas I am looking for
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Price
Very pleased, bought as an upgrade to my HP spectre of 5yrs old, but set up as a 2nd unit using the same x2nr 28" screens and switch between the 2, definite difference between the speed and picture quality etc. Easy to set up and the new co-pilot is great and you know will get better over the coming months, Matt Black is nice too.
2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Performance for a Premium Price
The screen is way too reflective, making it hard to use in bright environments. The laptop takes too long to start up, which is disappointing for such an expensive model. Plus, the screen sometimes flashes.I had the item returned. I do not recommend it.
1.0 out of 5 stars arm is terrible
Unfortunately, there's a lot of hype around these arm processors. They're not that great. Software doesn't work well. Features are missing from first party software and there's the odd freeze when trying to emulate x64 software. Steer clear of arm/snapdragon and buy the amd or intel
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Really pleased with this laptop, makes my life so much more efficient and ticks all the boxes, just going to get one for my business partner now.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended right now, maybe later
There're some wild claims for this laptop. Let me comment on each:- Performance : no faster/slower than any other windows laptop I've seen in the past. Doesn't feel any different- Keyboard: this is good! The arrow buttons are at an awkward position, which I don't like, but typing on this is a joy.- Trackpad: terrible let-down. The hardware is good, the driver is unusable. It's stuttering, jumping, lagging. There're many on reddit having exactly the same problem. Go, look it up! Once microsoft fixes that (if ever), I can recommend this laptop- Screen: it's good, but very glary. The 3:2 aspect ratio is nice, but nothing special. It's not OLED.- Battery life: With about 30 browser tabs open, along with slack, discord, and having a 2h meeting, I managed to get 4h our of this laptop. On Medium load, it's absolute rubbish, on light load, it can do 6h.Don't even dream getting close to the advertised 20h or whatever that lie is.- Thermals: you can regularly hear the fan starting up, and the surface is warm to the touch. Not terrible at all, and the fans are quiet, but they're there! On the other hand my AMD gaming laptop is whisper quiet on the same load (fan only starts up on a hangouts call). An additional problem is having ARM architecture for your CPU. As seen in the above it doesn't give you anything additional, but it causes your troubles installing applications. So far the things I've noticed that didn't work AT ALL (not even virtualized):- sql (any related), brew under WSL, continue IDE, proton VPN, cursor IDESome arm applications are also so new, that they're not optimized yet. An example of Slack using up 20% battery in 1h.If your workload doesn't rely much on too many applications and you're looking at a generic browsing machine, I guess it's fine. For anything serious (or gaming), I'd recommend steering elsewhere.Shame!
2.0 out of 5 stars Laptop longevity massively limited by Microsoft aftercare
Although Bolo are a authorised seller of Microsoft products, apparently the extended warranty from Microsoft is only available if you purchase DIRECTLY from Microsoft store. Checked this twice over and a monopoly exists so any savings at Bolo are wasted if like me, you require extended warranty. No other manufacturer does this.
