5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, good quality basic/everyday laptop
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I don't usually write reviews but wanted to share my thoughts and experience so far with this laptop- especially as I know I rely heavily on customer reviews when making these kind of larger purchases online.Disclaimer: I'm no tech expert, this is just my personal opinion of the laptop (although I am a little fussy and do enjoy value for money- who doesn't?)TL;DR: Overall, after 1 week of usage, I'm very happy with the product and would recommend this laptop (and package) to anyone on the market for a decent beginner/basic laptop in the ~£200 region.I purchased this laptop primarily for the use of writing up reports, watching films and surfing the internet and it seems perfectly adequate for those tasks. For a budget laptop, the design, weight and feel is great, and to have it come with 1 year access to Microsoft programs like Word or Power-point is a massive bonus. Here's a bit more of a breakdown if needed..Design/Appearance:Got to say, I'm actually really impressed with the design. My partner has an older HP model and you can see the advancements in how laptops are now designed- for a budget laptop it's sleek, lightweight, has a great quality screen resolution and the sound isn't too bad either. On sound, if watching programs or live TV, I'd say the volume is adequate in a small room, but connecting to a Bluetooth speaker/headphones is a good shout for better performance. Overall, HP laptops are an established and reliable brand, and despite the cost, it feels like you benefit from this.Keyboard:I see a lot of reviews for laptops online talking about keyboard quality, and I personally find the keyboard nicely spaced and you don't have to press too hard on the keys; they have a nice cushioned quality and sound (if that makes sense) I wouldn't be worried about annoying the person next to me on a commute if I was typing! The letters/font on the keys also happen to be quite large, which is possibly something to consider if purchasing for/as an older buyer who may benefit from this.Size/Weight:Again, very impressed by the weight and size - depends what you're looking for, but as an every day commuter laptop, the 14" display feels plenty enough and it makes the laptop easy to transport. Some good 13-14" cases with in-built stands are available on Bolo (would recommend!) and it could easily fit into a backpack or pannier bag.Battery Life:Okay, this could probably be better - it wouldn't last days without charging. However, for the price range I'm not holding any grudges as it seems to charge quickly and I would trust it to last at least a day, or for a meeting/lecture/commute before needing to recharge a bit.Perks and packages (20GB Data Sim/Microsoft 365):I purchased this laptop primarily to use for writing up reports, watching films and surfing the internet. For a budget laptop, the hardware alone feels good value- to have it come with 1 year access to Microsoft programs like Word or Power-point is a massive bonus and a cost-saver. Personally, I'm likely to be working in areas with poor Wi-Fi, so having the added option (and access) to use data in order to browse the internet/use chat platforms is great! It comes installed with Windows 10 with an upgrade to Windows 11 due soon. It's simple to pin websites or apps to the taskbar for quick access, as well as to alter the layout and design of your desktop (colours and backgrounds). The laptop comes with a fingerprint sensor which is perhaps temperamental, but does work and is a great added security feature.Final Points: I haven't used this laptop for gaming or music software, so can't speak for it's performance in these areas. My impression though is that it would struggle to run larger programs or match the performances of more top-of-the-range laptops, and is perhaps not designed with heavy usage in mind. But that is not the point of this laptop! Instead, for a budget laptop, it definitely feels like a great option as an everyday laptop with light-usage in mind and would be ideal as a beginner laptop for younger users, for students, or perhaps elder users who require a simple innovative design for every taskings.Hope this helped!
5.0 out of 5 stars HP laptop
Great computer. 15 inch screen, good size. Not too big or small. Thin and light re travelling. Excellent screen resolution. Very easy to set up. Comes with Windows 11. Easy to link with my existing Microsoft account. Set up takes about one hour but can be left until completed. Good value, respected brand, and quick delivery and excellent service. Delighted with my new computer. Does just what I want, emails, document management, Internet and streaming. Would highly recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good value
It seems to run windows 11 well enough. The i3 cpu is fast, and 8gb memory is adequate. The only downside is the screen looks a bit washed out and the viewing angles aren't that good. Overall it's good value for £299.
1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
I have been a loyal HP customer (and Bolo) for over 20 years, relying on their laptops for my small business. My previous HP Envy was a solid, high-quality machine that served me well for four years before showing signs of wear. Naturally, I chose HP again, expecting the same standard of reliability. Unfortunately, this HP 14” model has been nothing short of a disaster. From day one, the build quality was a disappointment—cheap plastic feel and lacking a touchscreen, which was not made clear in the product listing. The connectivity is also poor: the USB-C port does not support data or video output, and even HDMI does not function as data connection with my Samsung M8 monitor, making video calls impossible.More concerning was the fan, which was noticeably active even during light use. I initially ignored it, but just a couple of weeks in use, the laptop overheated and crashed completely. To make matters worse, HP refuse to assist me because I am currently in the UAE, even though the laptop was purchased in the UK. Their policy states they won’t provide support if the device is outside the country of purchase —completely unacceptable for a global brand.Adding insult to injury, I discovered there was no warranty included—how is HP even allowed to sell "brand new" laptops without a warranty? And now, because I am just five days past the return window, I am left with an expensive, faulty device and no recourse. For £529.99 (supposedly reduced from £722), this purchase has been a complete waste of money. If you’re considering this laptop, save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. HP has seriously let its loyal customer down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value Replacement.
This item has been purchased to replace my old windows 10 - HP laptop I have used for over 6 yrs. This new one is a little smaller (14 inch as apposed to 15.6 inch) however the design and build of my new model is great, the keyboard is a delight to use and the laptop itself is very light in weight. The i7 intel processor make for extremely quick response and generally speeding up my experience in what ever task I take up. All in all I am very happy with my purchase. A good product at a great price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product.
Perfect product for what I need it to do. Word not included. Good price and easy to set-up.
3.0 out of 5 stars NOT touchscreen
It is NOT a touchscreen despite saying so. It feels like it is made for a price with lots of plastic. Having said all this, it boots up fast and does a the basic things I need. Screen looks matt rather than gloss.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality
Good quality.Arrived very quickly, is sleek in design and easy to use. Very well packaged.
Complicated set up.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Feels very plasticy , on/off button not very responsive. But the worst: setting up is very complicated. Need Microsoft account and all the setting up will more or less been done through Microsoft. I thought in the beginning there was a bug in the laptop
