Some Good Features But Dissappointed In Others
First of all this chair fits most of my needs and seems better than others in the market. For the price of $869 I had better expectations than what the manufacturer is selling. Most of the chairs I have seen are supplied with a cheap base plate that doesn't really have much adjustment. This one is different.Pros: The chair does recline to about 135 deg and you can lock into four positions if you want or just rock back and forth. Also, the seat of the chair does not lift at the same level that you recline back to. AND, what I really love about the adjustment is that by pushing down on the lever on the left side, you can scooch the seat forward another 1-1/2" giving you an extra level of comfort. I have not seen that on other chairs.Cons: Firstly, as is typical of a lot of Chinese made products, there are 8 holes in the bottom of the chair that you have to screw the arm rests into hand some of the holes are misdrilled and are off by a small amount, but I was eventually able to force the bolts in. I also have to re-tighten those bolts every now and again. Next, they claim the chair is genuine leather, but I don't think it is.Also, the chair started wobbling side to side after a couple weeks. I tried tightening all of the bolts on the bottom of the base plate and that sort of worked... a little. I came to realize that the issue is largely the cheap lift cylinder. So, I replaced it with a real SGS class4 cylinder and that issue is fixed. They claim its an SGS cylinder but don't specify which class...it's not a class 4.So, my main disappointment is that for what they charge for a chair in this price range is that an SGS class 4 cylinder costs retail on Bolo for $20-25.00, which means the manufacturers cost is likely half of that. And the cheap plastic wheels are really cheap and I expect them to break before too long. I was able to purchase some excellent Polyurethane replacement wheels for around $30.00. Again the mfg cost would be way less. And the sloppy quality control with mis-drilled holes is sad for a product that sells for the listed price. I like the style of the chair and its ergonomic fit and the adjustments that are available, but due to some cheap components that you may likely want to replace, I feel this chair is overpriced. If I could have found another chair with similar dimensions and the same base plate with these adjustments at a better price, I would have. One should expect better components at this price especially since they are pretty inexpensive to do so.
Will probably buy again.
While there are some things that could be critiqued, Id still buy this chair again for the other room. Im a 5'4", 135lb guy and I like the size of the chair. Head rest is in the right spot, lumbar feels good. The cushion is a little firm for a 135lb body, but considering I replaced the last chair because the seat cushion wore out, not complaining (its firm, not hard). The adjustment levers/knobs arent perfect, but its not hard to adjust either. I do like that the seat slides back and forth - it does add something to the comfort when leaning back. And the leather is nice, as in, noticed while I was unpacking. They even send cotton gloves so you dont get the leather dirty putting the chair together. The wheels kinda suck because they move too freely but the soft roller-blade wheels fix that.
