Comes pretty sharp but being a carpenter I love my tools super sharp 10 minutes on the Japanese Water stones then finished with diamond paste and it sharpened up beautifully easy to use and a great price

Doesn't keep an edge particularly well but is easy to sharpen with a whetstone. The main wedge of the axe could be positioned better ( awkward striking angle) but once you have the knack it is an excellent tool for the price.
