These Bolivia-grown brazil nuts are about as plain as they come. The flavour is straightforward, exactly what you’d expect, and they’ve got that specific crunch texture that seems to be a bit unique to brazil nuts, where they crack like a hard nut on the first crunch but then melt away into a more oily and buttery texture as you chew.Though the product description avoids the word “broken” in favour of the word “halves”, the label on the packet is “Certified Organic Broken Brazil Nuts”- and for the most part they are half nuts, but there are also some unusual chops, some tiny pieces, and some that are very close to being whole nuts but with one edge trimmed off.There’s quite a lot of detritus in the packet from the skin of the nuts, so they aren’t the cleanest pack of brazils I’ve ever seen, but they’re not too bad.They’re a very moreish snack and I’m going to need to put some of these aside for baking, because it’s very easy, too easy, to pop the packet open quickly and just grab a couple as a snack as you’re passing. The packet reseals quite neatly so it will keep the nuts cresh, though the windowed bag seems a bit unnecessary and means you’ll need to store it out of direct sunlight.As I write this review, the price for 500g of brazil nuts is just over eight quid fifty. That’s not particularly good value, and if you look at other options both here and on online supermarket sites, it’s easily possible to get smaller or equally-sized bags that work out cheaper by weight.

The Brazil nuts halves arrived in a large food bag which was sealed and required scissors to open. The pouch also has a resealable zip lock strip to maintain the freshness of the nuts after opening. The bag contains 500g of Brazil nuts and have certification to back up their organic origins.The Brazil nuts are a great source of fibre but also contain antioxidants, vitamin E and selenium for a rounded diet. Personally, I love eating them as a snack, as they are a healthier alternative when a bit peckish. They can also be used in a host of recipes either whole or chopped / ground down further.Priced at £8.55 at the time of reviewing, this isn’t exactly cheap for nuts but I suppose you would expect to pay more for organic and the nuts themselves do taste good. The size of the pieces is generally halves but there are some larger and some smaller. Either way they are a nice option if you like Brazil nuts and I would happily recommend.

These nuts arrived in a very poor state. They looked old and very dried out. On further inspection there was green mould visible on most of them. They went straight in to the bin !
