Excellent flavor, and you would never know it was without actual sugar. As a Naturopath and Nutritionist, I highlyrecommend these beans.
Taste good but a bit too much sweetener.
When you really want some baked beans but you are on a keto diet. About 12 net carbs in 1/2 cup serving, so not an everyday thing. The beans themselves are naturally carby, but at least this has no real sugar added. Instead uses sucralose (Splenda). I'm okay with that, but some people aren't. A bit too sweet, but overall good baked bean flavor.
Delicious but…read on for some advice.
I opened the can without reading the ingredients and tried a spoonful before heating them up. Wow was I surprised because the taste was sweet and similar to the other Bush recipes! Then I read the ingredients. Sucralose. Now I admit, I read the ingredients before I made the purchase, but obviously read too quickly. I choose not to eat artificial sweeteners. On a rare occasion, I will eat something with an artificial sweetener because I can’t eat the sugared version. I will be making an exception for these delicious baked beans. These do not taste artificial, they taste like the original product, and they will allow me to have baked beans once in a while when I don’t feel like baking my own.I did a test and the flavor is better if you don’t overheat them. I did one batch to about 150° and the other I took to boiling. Taking it boiling must do something with the sucralose and then you get a bitter aftertaste.Bushe’s definitely hit a home run with this one!
