5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT CarPlay Solution For ALL Mercedes!!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } The media could not be loaded. This is the best purchase I have made in a long time, and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for ever since purchasing my 2015 Mercedes A-Class. I have been hunting around looking for ways to enable CarPlay without needing to spend hundreds, have it professionally fitted, change the original screen or lose the functionality of the factory controls.Let me start off by saying the product was extremely well packaged and presented. It was very similar to Apple presentation which made the unboxing process feel premium. Inside is the box itself, a set of wires and a leaflet on how to set it up.The whole setup process took less than 5 minutes and that was just because I was being extra cautious, as I had watched a YouTube video which seemed to over complicate the process. I was led to believe that I would need to remove some screws in the car to ensure the box fitted, but I can assure you this is NOT the case. The installation is quite literally plug and play as advertised. All you need to do is open the glove box, and press in the button to eject the old Becker navigation system. It looks identical to this product and is what comes with the car, and is used as the built in satnav. Once you’ve done this, you just need to slide in the CarPlay box in its place, making sure it clicks into place. The next thing to do is to make sure that the car is on. You should then navigate to the cars Bluetooth settings and connect the car to the box’s Bluetooth. This is so that any audio that you play comes out if the cars speakers. If you don’t do this, then no sound will come out. I have seen others reporting issues with the sound and I am almost certain that they have not connected to the Bluetooth of the box. In terms of the box being connected to the car, this happens automatically when you slide it into the slot in the glove box, and the navigation tab becomes active once the car is switched on.You can still use the phone, radio, system etc buttons as normal, along with everything else. If you want to navigate to the CarPlay box settings you can just press the nav button, or go across to the navigation section on the menu. Doing this brings up the CarPlay menu, which has other options such as android auto and screen mirroring. You can use the cars build in controls to navigate these menus which is great, since the factory screens in these cars are not touchscreen. When you click on CarPlay, it will ask you to connect your phones Bluetooth to the box to activate it. This is very easy to do, and I’m extremely grateful that it all works wirelessly as many cars which come with CarPlay only accept a wired connection, making this more convenient than most cars which come with CarPlay by standard!Once you’ve done this the CarPlay screen will open up, and you can use your apps, maps, play music, etc from your phone all through the car and the CarPlay interface. It’s very easy to switch back to the other menus on the car screen and it can be done with one click. You can also switch the audio output so that it plays the CarPlay audio, or the native radio in the car, or any other sound output you may have. This is really handy because it means you can use everything as normal as if you never even put the box in - if you just want it for CarPlay or the occasional feature, it’s perfect, as it doesn’t change anything at all!I’ve uploaded some videos of the CarPlay working and showing how you can connect, and swap between the different modes.I can’t recommend this product enough if you’re looking to enable CarPlay on an older Mercedes model. It would make a great gift for anyone you know who has one of the compatible cars. It’s something not many people know exists, but they would certainly all want the features it brings!
5.0 out of 5 stars So far…..great!
Picked up my SLK (2014) R172 the other day and was peeved there was no navigation, but it had a slot in the glove box for the Becker Pilot. Had no idea what this was at first! Then saw the price of adding the Becker system. Nope!Did some research, was ready to buy a system that you replace the screen etc and have to dismantle all the console / dash etc, which I’m not afraid to do, but is a PITA.Then came across this. So simple, just slot it into the Becker Pilot system in the glove box. But, DO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!! I didn’t at first and got frustrated by it saying the system was rejected. Over and over again. Then re-read the instructions and realised my mistake. So that is the advice. Read it carefully. So far, only a couple of days, but all good. Carplay looks and works good. Resolution not amazing but it is an older screen and it is good enough not to bother me. Can see maps no problem, music, SMS etc.Screen froze at one point and it was a good old “Uk oh” but turned out to be that my phone was in my pocket and lost service for the sat nav.So, as I said, all good so far, really easy set up (IF you follow the instructions). Cheaper than a lot of other options and much less hassle.Would recommend based on experience so far.
1.0 out of 5 stars works intermittently
arrived on time early actually and was so easy to install but that's the end of the good stuff it works intermittently and every time you get out the car you have to reset it and it takes an age to remember the sequence so can't just go it says plug and play but its more plug and play about all the time
5.0 out of 5 stars Great car Play
Easy to set up and is amazing
5.0 out of 5 stars 👍🏾
Works great, could be cheaper but would still recommend.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good upgrade, features lacking
First off, the product itself is a really good idea. Setting up wasn't too difficult, took perhaps 20 minutes. The Module itself is plug'n'play. It's a country mile better than the Becker OEM Unit, which, let's be honest, is not fit-for-purpose. The interface does modernise an older generation car to something more acceptable by today's standards. I've had no freezing, having Maps on my infotainment system is great, and it can all be done wirelessly...So, why 3 Stars and not 5? Well, one huge bugbear for me is having Maps blind me at night. The device doesn't honour the Dash's Night Mode, so if you're on a reasonably long journey and the sun sets while driving, you should probably factor in a need to pull over and manually set Maps to Night Mode. When I reached out to Customer Services about this, the response was "just set Maps manually". Yeah, that's not great! Not needing to interact with my phone whilst driving is THE big benefit of having this device... forcing me to pull over to manually change something which the Car is more than capable of doing takes a lot away from the product experience. Having Maps constantly set to Night Mode is no good either, as during the day, the contrast makes it difficult to follow the map properly. Honestly, if it wasn't for this issue, I would give the product a raving 5 Stars, because it IS a great idea, its just unfortunate that 1 pretty big thing has been overlooked.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great device
So easy to set up , literally just plug it into the slot in the glovebox . You do need to disconnect your phone from the car first , I unpaired it on my phone and in the car .It does occasionally not connect but I just pull it out and push it back in the slot and its away again. Considering the alternative is to have a complete new system at great expense this us a small inconvenience for the improvement on an older system.
Dejo de funcionar
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Todo iba bien y de repente dejo de funcionar, se quedo bloqueado, no conectaba y era imposible hacerlo funcionar. He probado de todas las maneras.
Pessimo acquisto
Beste Investition an meinem Auto
Funktioniert alles wie es sein soll. Das originale System kann absolut nicht mithalten. Kann ich jedem nur empfehlen.
