I tend to take 2-3 packets with me on marathons and consume a couple of blocks every 4 to 5 miles. Seems to work well.

I don't get on well with the consistency of gels so was very happy to discover these gel-like cubes a couple of years ago, and have been using them to fuel long runs and races ever since. I use one full packet for a half marathon, and they're very easy to pop in your shorts pocket and eat as you run without any sticky mess. Great flavour too, not too sweet or artificial so doesn't make you feel sickly when you eat multiple.
