About this item:
Premium Organic Japanese Loose Leaf Black Tea
Japan is famous for its green tea but there is also a small production of Japanese black tea too, that is virtually unheard of in the west. We supply a limited amount of a black loose leaf tea made from a Benifuuk cultivar, and this organic tea comes from the same production as our organic green teas. It's black but totally different from the premium black teas that you are most probably used to. Made from hand picked young leaves, this Benifuuki black tea is aromatic, mild and incredibly smooth, with zero bitterness.
Brew the perfect cup of Japanese black tea – hot or coldTemperature, amount of leaf, type of water and steep time are important factors you need to get right to make the perfect cup of hot Japanese black tea. We recommend: Tea: 4g (0.14 oz. = 1 heaped tsp.), Water: 1 cup (200ml), Temperature: (95 - 100°C), Steep Time: 120 seconds. Black loose leaf tea can also be brewed cold. Add 6-7g of loose leaf tea to a glass pitcher and fill up with 500-1000ml water. Refrigerate for 6-8 hours, strain the leaves then drink or store in the fridge for later.

Tasty black tea
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } The tea is tasty without being bitter. Highly recommended. It is a bit pricy though.
Very delicate falvor
I'm very impressed with this black tea. Not like any you have ever had before. It is distinct in its own way. Make it stronger than you normally do as the flavor is very smooth and delicate. Do not add milk as it will render the tea almost completely tasteless. I added honey and it was good. Smooth, silky, nose feel of a touch of sweetness, no astringent, or bitter flavors at all. Good for what it is though not an English breakfast which is my preferred black tea, but I think if you try it you will like it. Also the packaging is subtle, simple, and pretty like the tea.
Worth the money
I have always been a fan of English and Indian black teas. I lived in Japan for many years and also liked their Oolong teas. So, when I discovered that this 'new' black teas was being produced in Japan, I just had to try it....knowing that any tea produced in Japan would have to be good.This is not your usual black tea. If you can sense the fermented factor in it, and like it, then this is for you. I have never noticed such a strongly fermented flavor in any other tea, before.I brew it strong and add almost 6 oz. of milk and a teaspoon of honey. So sublimely satisfying...
Fourth time for Ocha & Company Organic Black Tea/Non-toxic/Lovely taste
Ocha & Company Organic Black TeaSearch for a Black Tea grown on non-toxic (no heavy metals) soil led to Ocha & Company, way back in 2020. I keep a supply in my pantry, for myself and for the occasional tea drinking guest. I like to watch out for the health of my friends, and I am all right with serving Ocha & Company Tea, from Japan.Purchaser should not expect a super-strong, malty tea like Harney & Sons or Twinings. This Japanese tea has its own strength, and even an over-steep of five or more minutes will never produce a hefty, mahogany-colored, English Breakfast type of tea. I buy Ocha & Company Tea because I trust this tea grower, and I know from my research, that their tea plants grow on clean (not polluted soils).. This most recent order was vac-sealed, for preservation of flavor. Something new, from this Tea Company, and very much appreciated.
Smooth
