Ocha & Co. Kyoto Uji Matcha - Ceremonial Grade - Japanese First-Harvest Matcha Green Tea Powder, Traditionally Stone-Milled, 50g.

Description:

  • What Makes Our Kyoto Uji Matcha (京都宇治抹茶) Special? Sourced from our farm in Uji, Kyoto, our Ceremonial Grade (Tokujō 特上) matcha is made from young first-harvest green tea leaves, carefully selected exclusively from the prestigious Okumidori cultivar. Our green tea leaves (tencha) are delicately and traditionally stone-milled, an essential process to achieve a vibrant color, balanced flavor, and natural aroma.
  • Ceremonial Grade (Tokujō 特上): We classify our matcha into three grades, each crafted for a unique experience. Discover our Superior Ceremonial Grade Matcha, made exclusively from the prestigious Okumidori cultivar. Created by the renowned master Suzuki San, this premium matcha stands out for its smooth texture and naturally sweeter taste compared to other varieties. Shade-grown cultivation preserves L-theanine and increases chlorophyll, resulting in a sweeter and more umami-rich flavor.
  • We Want to Help You Enjoy Matcha: Whether in traditional tea, a latte, or any other way, we believe there is no right or wrong way to enjoy it. Our 50g package yields a total of 25 servings. With 2g of matcha, you can prepare a cup of usucha (light tea) or a creamy matcha latte. Unlike coffee, which causes energy spikes, our matcha is rich in L-theanine, an amino acid that balances caffeine, providing sustained energy, focus, and relaxation.
  • Uncompromising Quality: Our matcha is crafted under the highest quality standards in Japan, ensuring its purity, freshness, and sustainability. Additionally, all our products are shipped weekly in small batches directly from our farms to Amazon’s warehouse. Thanks to this continuous process, our products reach you just days after production, preserving their freshness and properties in our airtight-seal packaging.
  • OCHA & CO: We are a traditional Japanese company committed to sharing the authentic Japanese matcha experience with you. Our mission is to offer the highest quality matcha, grown and processed directly at the source. By choosing our products, you not only enjoy premium tea but also support rural Japanese communities and their way of life, where our farms are located.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vibrant green colour - good quality

Fresh and grassy. Not at all bitter. Extra nice (and healthy) with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality

    H. · 16 May 2025

Yeah this slaps so hard made a blueberry oat matcha and tasted just like what you would buy from a coffee shop. Amazing quality especially for the price point and really easy to make.

4.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, gentle, balanced with a creamy layer

    H. · 13 May 2025

Visually, it's spot on, brilliant green powder, super fine, clearly good quality.Making it as usucha (80C, electric frother), it's got all those high-quality hallmarks: very smooth, gentle, nicely balanced umami and sweetness, no bitterness. Definitely premium, but didn't seem any different from other high quality Uji matchas. After drinking it a few more times, I did start to notice something a bit different, a really nice, almost velvety creamy texture or layer to it. That was interesting and quite pleasant, not used to ' creaminess' in any of my tea.But here's the thing: even with that creaminess, the actual taste profile still felt very much in that classic, balanced Uji camp. For something labelled "Limited Production" and at this price, I guess I was hoping for a more distinct or complex flavour to really make it stand out. It’s very good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't quite deliver a unique punch that would clearly separate it from another really good, smooth Uji matcha like the Midori Matcha Superior Grade I also reviewed.Maybe it would be a different story as koicha, which would bring out more depth, but that's not really for casual drinking and too expensive to experiments with.Overall, it's a lovely, high-quality matcha if you want something extremely smooth, gentle, and with a nice touch of creaminess. But if you're shelling out hoping for a really standout or different flavour adventure, it might feel a tad too polite and familiar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Organic! Amazing quality.

    M. · 15 April 2025

Perfect aroma, lovely color, and amazing quality! Definitely organic! I love the taste, it’s completely different from the matcha you get at coffee shops. I am replacing coffee with matcha and I feel much better health-wise. It boosts my energy and concentration in a much smoother way. I highly recommend buying a matcha kit (specially a bamboo whisk and a strainer) as electric mixers don’t create a smooth homogeneous drink - you will end up with some small grains (not as pleasant to drink). Without the proper tools, it can be tricky to prepare a nice drink and you might waste some product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Is okay.

A high quality matcha to add to your collection

    M. · 22 May 2025

The texture of this matcha is finely milled. It smells very nutty and umami right upon opening the bag, and when mixed with hot water I get a lot of nutty savory notes. Mixed in a latte, it is not very grassy but the color is bright green and very beautiful. You can taste the quality in this as a little powder goes a long way -- not bitter, just umami and tender. I do not get any astringency, sourness, or bitterness. I will definitely be repurchasing and trying other varieties from this manufacturer.

One of the best Matcha powders that I have tried!!

    F.B.L. · 6 May 2025

I have tried many different ceremonial-grade powders on Bolo, but a lot of them fall short. This one has an amazing color and an amazing taste. People are complaining that it tastes better, but it does not taste bitter; it tastes exactly how much it should taste. I will continue buying this, and my favorite part is that it is heavy metal tested and organic, which is exactly what I was looking for!
