No matter what hair removal method I have used, hair returned after a few days and no amount of consistency has thinned out the hair or slowed regrowth down, and my legs are never smooth, even after a wax. I have wanted to invest in laser treatment for years but the cost was just restrictive. After reading the numerous positive reviews of the Philips Lumea I decided to take advantage of a Black Friday deal, with the vain hope of finally having smooth legs this summer.I knew before it arrived that I would need to commit to an initial 10 week cycle of treatment which I was prepared to do, especially if it really did deliver results. I also made sure that I read the instructions and tips carefully before I started the treatments, even a 24hour skin test (something that I often don't). I was determined to do this right.My commitment has paid off, I am so happy with the result. I have treated my legs, underarm, bikini line and upper lip and am about to complete the 10 week treatment. Bikini line and underarm hair all but gone (never been so neat and tidy) and, save a couple of patches which I have clearly missed during the treatment, my legs are hair free. My upper lip hair had gone after three treatments. I can not believe how successful this has been and would definitely recommend. Considering the price of professional treatment, there is no competition over what is the better value, if you are prepared to put in the work and ensure that you stick to the treatment regime.The treatment itself is largely pain free, it feels like a sharp prick. When you do your first treatment you do a test to measure the recommended light level (1-5), and if it's comfortable to do so you can increase this up to level 5. Different body parts can take different levels, on my legs I could crank it right up to 5 but my underarm could only take a 3.There is also an App, which I have found really helpful to track my treatments, light levels and remind me when my next treatment is due. It also has videos offering tips, which I have only just watched but wish I had done earlier - if you can seek out the video giving tips on how not to miss spots on your legs, it would have been great if it had been part of the intro when you download it.All I can add is, if you're not sure whether to invest - DO IT. THIS WORKS!!! Really very impressed and delighted with the results and looking forward to finally having smooth legs this summer.

I used Bolo brand IPL before which didn’t give much results. This product is a different story!It’s more expensive but worth it - I can already see the results after few months of using. My favourite part to compare with other brands is the frequency of treatments. With Lumea the treatment starts with sessions every two weeks. Other brands recommend 3 treatments per week…This product is easy to use, feels comfortable in hand. It needs to be plugged in so you always need to be next to the power outlet.It comes with a few endings for different body areas - in my opinion it covers all you would need.It came nicely packed in a box with accessories such as pouch for storage and a tissue for cleaning.I have been using it for legs and under arms areas. The hair didn’t disappear completely but I can notice slower growth and thinner hair which is great so far.During treatment it’s quite easy to miss the spot so you need pay attention on each move. The lower power, the quicker it gets to load to the next light shot.Overall, it’s a great product!

I've used the Lumea 3 times now and I'm already seeing a difference with hair re-growth. I have darker hair and light freckly skin. Hair growth before was unbelievable, spikey, thick and dark leg hair a few hours after shaving. Having used the Lumea for the initial 3 fortnightly treatments, there are already areas of my legs that are hair-free, I can see where I've missed on a previous treatments so each time I carry out the treatment I'm a little more aware of how to use it. I found it quite difficult to know where to line up but I'm getting there and it's a learning curve.Upper lip and chin was very hairy before, needing to pluck every other day and these hairs have completely stopped growing in 3 treatments !! Underarms have really reduced the speed of re-growth too and bikini line is a work In progress (there are areas that have stopped growing but its very patchy, nothing I'm sure a few more treatments won't sort out!) Overall completely thrilled with it, I've wanted to buy this for 4+ years and I'm pleased I finally have. There are 5 settings, it has a handy function that tells you which one would be best for your skin (although you can choose any to suit yourself) mine mostly came out at 5, which is the highest setting and although it does get a bit warm after long usage, it's mostly pain free (on the highest setting) lower setting would be even less so.Don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to tell you all about it, and my long life ambition of becoming hair free xx

I have completed the initial 4 treatments on my legs and underarms with mixed results.Legs I am surprised at how good this is, I have almost no hair growth and have moved on to the top up treatments to maintain which is once a month! So pleased and couldn’t recommend enough.Underarms haven’t been as successful, I have noticed a slight thinning but no real difference in growth. It may just need more time so I am continuing with the initial treatment every 2 weeks until I see more results. Slightly disappointed but the fact I have seen such good results on my legs I am hoping this area just needs a little more time.Overall, highly recommend and is definitely worth the investment!

7 de enero de 2019 - Tras 3 sesiones completas de cuerpo entero, a punto de empezar la 4ª------ O ------Podéis leer mis impresiones iniciales más abajo. La cuestión es que hoy comienzo mi 4ª sesión de cuerpo entero, y el resultado no puede ser mejor. Prácticamente ya no me sale vello en ninguna parte del cuerpo. Algunos pelos sueltos y aislados en las piernas, ninguno en los brazos, casi ninguno en zona de pectoral/abdomen. Puestos a seros sinceros, también me hice la zona perianal (siempre con ayuda de alguien, no se os ocurra hacerlo solos), y tampoco me crecen ya pelos. Así que seguiré, por supuesto, con la programación indicada, me queda la 4ª y 5ª sesión cada dos semanas, y a partir de ahí, repasos cada 2 meses, pero el resultado es alucinante, jamás pensé que sería tan fácil quitarse los pelos de encima. Además, he llegado a tiempo, porque con 42 años, empezaban a salirme canas en zonas corporales, por ejemplo la zona central de los pectorales. Ahora mismo, sólo me crecen en esa zona unas cuantas canas (inmunes a la luz pulsada), pero como no tienen pelos negros con los que compararse, parecen pelitos rubios, je je je. En fin, que estoy encantado. Dado que este tipo de productos sólo pueden valorarse a largo plazo, tengo intención de ir actualizando esta opinión, para contaros el resultado.Soy un hombre de 42 años, de piel clara y vello oscuro. Supuestamente el candidato perfecto para la depilación por luz pulsada. Me he decidido a hacérmela ahora, porque en breve empezaré a tener canas en el vello corporal, y el tratamiento por tanto dejaría de ser efectivo. Ha llegado el momento de eliminar el vello para siempre.El producto en sí mismo es muy atractivo visualmente. Llegó perfectamente empaquetado, nuevo, precintado. Viene con el alimentador de red, los cabezales de cuerpo, axilas, facial e ingle, así como las instrucciones (también en español) y la garantía. Ah, y una bolsa para guardar el aparato, así como un paño para limpiar el equipo tras su uso (es importante humedecer el paño para que las manchas creadas por el pelo quedado salgan).Durante varios días de la semana pasada he ido haciendo mi cuerpo completo. El medidor de tono de piel me recomendaba la potencia 4, respecto de las 5 posibles. Recomiendan afeitar o recortar el vello justo antes de la sesión de cada zona, eso sí, procurando no irritar la piel. También hablar de que se puede depilar de raíz, pero yo tenía entendido que de esta manera, el tratamiento era menos efectivo. Así que yo me afeité cada zona.Un dato importante es que, aunque la máquina funciona con y sin cable, recomiendo hacerlo con cable, porque sólo tarda 2 segundos en recargar el disparo; sin cable el tiempo es mayor, y para zonas grandes se puede hacer muy tedioso.¿Es doloroso? Pues no, la verdad. La sensación con cada disparo es como de calor. En zonas con mucho vello, sí se puede llegar a notar como pinchazos, pero el efecto dura un instante. Después, no se nota nada de dolor, ni la zona se enrojece en absoluto. Eso sí, con cada disparo huele a pelo quemado, es perfectamente normal, no os asustéis.MUY IMPORTANTE: Hay que tener afeitado o recortado el vello, y hay dos motivos para ello. El primero, que el tratamiento es más efectivo, porque sólo el pelo interior, y su raíz, absorverán el disparo de luz, sin perder fuerza en la parte exterior del pelo. Y el segundo motivo y más importante, es que si dejáis pelo, os podríais quemar. La razón es que la luz, según el tipo de pelo, puede llegar a quemarlo. No me refiero a que se encienda una llama, pero si lo carboniza. Si queda mucho pelo fuera de la piel, podéis sentir ese calor sobre la piel, y quemaros literalmente.Los tiempos aproximados de tratamiento que se incluyen en las instrucciones son, en mi caso, poco realistas. Si de verdad quieres pasar por toda las piernas, por ejemplo, sin dejarte zonas, os aseguro que no tardaréis 8 minutos y medio. Hay zonas, como los tobillos, las rodillas, o las mismas pantorrillas, con sus huesos prominentes, que os retrasarán buscando el mejor ángulo de disparo. Por eso sí, mientras el aparato no esté perfectamente colocado sobre la piel, no te permitirá disparar. Yo en las dos piernas tardé unos 30 minutos en total, y son con diferencia la parte más compleja.Ya os comentaré los resultados más adelante. En breve me toca la segunda sesión, tras 2 semanas de la primera. Es cierto que en este tiempo hay vello que ha seguido creciendo, y otro que parece que no, pero todavía es pronto para opinar.

I do this roughly every two weeks, leaves you feeling smooth but needs regular sessions. After a couple of months seems to get a bit hot which I don't know of it's supposed to but it definitely works to reduce hair growth.

J’utilise ce Philips Lumea depuis quelques années maintenant, et je suis vraiment ravie des résultats. Dès les 3-4 premières séances, j’ai pu constater que certains poils ne repoussaient plus du tout, tandis que d’autres revenaient beaucoup plus fins et clairsemés. Après 6 séances, certaines zones sont carrément indemnes, plus besoin de les épiler !L’appareil est simple à utiliser, les instructions sont claires et les différents embouts s’adaptent très bien aux zones du corps (visage, aisselles, maillot, jambes…). Ils sont parfaitement pensés pour une utilisation précise et confortable. Mention spéciale pour la tondeuse-stylo Satin Compact fournie avec, très pratique pour les petites retouches.Je recommande vivement ce modèle pour celles et ceux qui cherchent une solution durable et efficace pour réduire la pilosité à la maison, sans douleur et en toute simplicité !
