About this item:
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a vital ingredient for all of humanity. It's been used for decades, and annual production is now well over 100,000 tonnes; this is due in large part to its wide range of applications. Sodium Bicarbonate looks to be a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None" substance. Bicarb is classed as salt and comes in the form of a fine, soft, pure white powder. Sodium bicarbonate neutralises acids, making it a quick-acting antacid that might come in handy in an emergency. Bath bombs are a popular one, but Sodium Bicarbonate only accounts for two-thirds of the essential materials, with Citric Acid being a crucial component; nonetheless, we provide a bath bomb kit that combines both for extra simplicity! Give it a shot and have some fun in the tub! We rolled out all-new 100% recyclable packaging on Wholefood Earth products. The new packaging is apt for kerbside recycling. Thank you for knowing It's what's on the inside that counts. For wanting a future without toxins in the food your children eat. For insisting on the accountability that traces food back to its source. For protecting the biodiversity that nurtures animal habitats and makes crops thrive. And, from everyone here at Wholefood Earth, thank you for using your buying power to make meaningful, informed choices that will continue to nourish our people and our planet today, tomorrow, and forever. We're here for a healthier earth, sustainable earth, wholesome earth.

I originally bought it purely for GERD relief, but its value quickly extended into dozens of unexpected areas across health, hygiene, and household care. It’s become a quiet, powerful tool that I reach for nearly every day—far more than I ever anticipated. My most regular use is health-related. As someone who suffers from occasional acid reflux and general stomach sensitivity, I often take a small pinch in warm water after meals, particularly if I’ve eaten late, had something acidic, or feel bloated. It works almost instantly to neutralise excess acid—far faster and gentler on my system than traditional antacids, and without any chalky aftertaste or strange coating in the mouth. I’ve also experimented with it during fasts and hydration days, combining it with a bit of Himalayan salt and lemon to balance pH, keep electrolytes steady, and avoid dizziness or muscle tightness. Compared to others I’ve tried, this one dissolves quickly, has no bitter aftertaste, and hasn’t triggered any skin irritation or rashes, which I’ve had before with cheaper grades. In the kitchen, it’s a miracle multitasker. I use it to soak and clean fruit and veg, especially grapes and leafy greens, removing wax, dirt and pesticide traces without using any harsh chemicals. It also plays a key role in my baking—especially when I’m making flatbreads or muffins that need a quick rise—and I’ve found that its quality here is noticeably better than cheaper supermarket boxes. I’ve never had the unpleasant metallic aftertaste some lower-quality sodas can leave behind. When cooking pulses or beans, I’ll add a pinch to reduce cooking time and improve digestibility, which helps with bloating. But where it really shines is cleaning. I’ve made my own scrubs using a mix of sodium bicarb and water to lift tea and coffee stains off mugs, clean the sink, and polish chrome taps to a shine. It works perfectly on burnt pans too—just boil water with a generous spoonful and let it sit. I’ve used it as a laundry booster, especially for sweaty gym clothes, as it cuts through odour and sweat residue. Speaking of sweat, it’s also an effective natural deodorant when made into a paste or even dusted lightly under arms on days I need to skip commercial products due to sensitive skin flare-ups.I’ve even used it for oral hygiene. A small pinch on the toothbrush after regular brushing acts as a polish and neutraliser. It’s noticeably helped reduce plaque and leaves a fresh, alkaline feel in the mouth. I wouldn’t recommend overusing it this way daily, but a few times a week has worked wonders in my case, especially during stressful times when my mouth feels more acidic.Around the house, I’ve neutralised fridge smells, freshened the carpet, and even used it in the shoes after a sweaty walk. I’ve used it to clean pet bowls, deodorise bins, unclog slow drains (combined with white vinegar), and as part of a DIY bath soak to soothe tired legs and feet. I’ve sprinkled it in gym bags, under bin liners, and even in a dish near the cat’s litter tray to keep odours down without synthetic sprays. It’s also my go-to when soaking dishcloths or cleaning chopping boards naturally. What really sets this product apart is the sheer consistency and purity. I’ve had no clumping, no harsh scent, and no inconsistency between batches. It's clear this isn’t some industrial-grade variant repackaged for home use—it’s smooth, reliable, and food-safe, and the 2kg size is just right for keeping a good supply on hand without worrying about running out. And for those like me who read the fine print, it’s free from aluminium and gluten, so I trust it for consumption and skin contact alike. If I had to mention one thing to be cautious about, it’s to always dilute it properly, especially when using for health or skin. I’ve learned the hard way that overuse can dry the skin or upset the gut if used too frequently or in high amounts. And as with any natural cleaning or hygiene ingredient, it’s not always a full substitute for stronger agents when dealing with bacteria-heavy zones like toilets or food-poisoning risks. But as an everyday, eco-conscious, body-safe option? There’s really no better.Wholefood Earth’s sodium bicarbonate has quietly become one of the most useful, health-aligned, and trustworthy products in my household. It’s rare to find something so simple yet powerful, so affordable yet effective. Whether you’re managing reflux, cleaning up, baking, or detoxing, it’s a gentle powerhouse—and I’m not going back to anything else.
5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, effective, and exceptional quality! A household essential.
I initially bought this baking soda after getting fed up with how quickly my fruit and veg were spoiling after delivery. Raspberries barely lasted 24 hours, and even sturdier produce like strawberries and blueberries were going mouldy within days. I’d read that soaking produce in a mix of vinegar and baking soda could help remove mould spores, bacteria, and chemicals, so I gave it a go straight after each delivery. The difference was clear as my fruit and veg now last an extra two to three days, and I’m throwing out far less.I was using small supermarket tubs before, but they weren’t practical for regular use. That’s what led me to look online for a better value option, and I came across this one from Wholefood Earth. From the start, the quality stood out. The powder is fine, smooth and odourless, dissolves quickly, and doesn’t leave any gritty residue or bitterness, which is ideal since I also use it for health reasons.A small pinch in warm water helps ease acid reflux and bloating far better than chalky antacids. I also mix it with lemon and Himalayan salt on fasting days to stay hydrated and balanced, and I’ve had zero skin irritation with it, which has happened with other brands in the past. It’s brilliant in the kitchen too. I use it in baking for a great rise with no metallic aftertaste, and a pinch in beans or pulses shortens cooking time and makes them easier to digest. For cleaning, it’s incredibly effective. I’ve used it to clean mugs, chrome, sinks and burnt pans. Mixed with water, it makes a great scrub, and paired with vinegar it has sorted out clogged drains and chopping boards. As a laundry booster, it helps eliminate odour from gym clothes, and it’s even worked as a gentle deodorant on sensitive skin. A bit on my toothbrush a few times a week leaves my teeth smooth and my mouth fresher. Around the house, I use it to deodorise bins, carpets, pet bowls, fridge shelves, gym bags and shoes, and it also makes a great foot soak at the end of a long day.The resealable, recyclable packaging is sturdy and keeps the product fresh, and the seal works perfectly every time, which I really appreciate. The delivery was fast and arrived in excellent condition. The 500g size is just right for regular use without taking up too much space. This is a high-quality, reliable and versatile baking soda that has become an everyday essential in my home. It offers far better value than supermarket options and has proven useful across health, cooking, cleaning and self-care. I’ll definitely be purchasing again.Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope that you found it helpful and that it assists you in your decision-making. I try to be as honest and fair as possible, as those have always been the reviews that helped me the most.

Exactly as described and done the job there supposed to do easy to use
3.0 out of 5 stars Bag split a bit, lost a teaspoon of product, otherwise ok
Bag came split in the cardboard box, but only a tiny bit, lost about a teaspoon of product, transferred it in a plastic storage bucket. I will use it to baking, produce wash, making my own toothpaste and deodorant, price is really reasonable for me.I was afraid when it arrived as Ive seen all the bad reviews about split bags and powder all over the package, but mine was still acceptable. I think its the quality of those recyclable pouches...
