5.0 out of 5 stars A nice change from pure black
After finishing off a roll of another brand's Black I was looking for something a little different but also, not, brightly coloured. That's when the Flashforge sparkly black filament caught my eye.I'm relatively new to 3d printing so far having printed with 'printer's PLA tester orange', a well known brand's black + white, and a lesser known brand's translucent PETG yellow. All the PLA printed fairly well but the PETG was a disaster. After finishing off my last brand roll, I switched over to the FF Galaxy Black. I reviewed the heating instructions and noted it had a melting point of 50c and lower end range of 190c (slightly lower than the other brand PLA I was using before). So I tweaked my slicer settings and put the new filament in my curer for 5 hours at 45c to ensure there was no residual moisture going to affect print quality.Immediately it started stringing and wouldn't stick and panic struck. Why was PLA going wrong when I'd had no problems with my other rolls mere minutes earlier??I immediately knocked my Z down 0.1mm and tried the same print again, voila, problem solved. That's a first!Normally it takes me ages of faffing, with this filament, 1 print and I've then had zero problems with subsequent prints.I showed my other half, my first print and the reaction was "ooh that looks nice, it's sparkles!" which is amazing given it was a kitchen towel for an Ikea rod I grabbed from thing verse which I'd printed (pictures attached of two different varieties, neither matched what I needed, so I am still working on it in Fusion360, will re-upload once I'm happy with it).So first impressions are very good, both from me, and a non-3d printer person. Very easy to dial in. Good adhesion. Can't comment on 'sheerness' Bolo, it's a black filament?!I did read on a group somewhere that 'sparkly' filament can cause issues with the hot end or something so maybe something to be aware of and keep an eye out on, if you run lots of rolls of this kind of filament, perhaps? But no problems for me thus far, from the 4-5 prints I've done so far.Would I recommend this to a friend?YesWould I buy this again?YesAnything else to add? It'd be cool to have a white or cream with sparkly silver bits in it, like the newer marble counter tops you see. Get on it, Flashforge R&D team!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good colour range but needs a little care with temperatures to get the best prints
I liked the range of colours, particularly the strength of the red and blue, and the amount of each before the transition seemed about right. The final prints are slightly translucent. On my Ender Pro3 I found that to get good adhesion I needed to start at 210C, but then drop this to 185C in order to get the printed item to separate cleanly from the raft. The quality of small details was good, but maybe not as good as some (the Eryone matte filaments are my personal favourites). I'd buy this again, but would probably look round for alternatives first.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good looing and easy to print
Bought this filament for some gate work in the garden. Nice outside colour. Easy to print, and being ASA should last a good while in all weathers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded expectations
I've been doing a large 3d print project for some time which is really starting to cost a lot of money (full size r2d2) so have been looking at cheaper pla filaments. I thought i would give this stuff a go as its one of the cheapest on here. To be honest i didn't expect much but have been very pleasantly surprised so far. I am on my second reel and the majority of prints have come out very well. The pla is slightly translucent, and feels a little brittle at first but reallly its actually pretty good with no major issues when printing on a Qidi Tech printer at 210c (on a 40c bed). Definately worth a try if your in the market for a super cheap budget pla, and this is saving me 5 quid a reel!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great filament
This is now pretty much my go to filament.Running ion a flash forge 5M Pro with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height, this stuff is fantastic. It is about as quick as HS-PLA using a 0.4mm nozzle at a 0.2mm layer height. The detail is not as good, obviously, but this stuff is great for functional prototypes. I have made gears, rack & pinions, and various enclosures for product testing. It is noticeably stiffer than standard PLA, and I have made small drill/mill fixtures from it as well with 80% plus infill. The matt finish is also really nice, it looks almost black.
1.0 out of 5 stars Wood Filament is RUBBISH ..!!!!
Wood Filament..The spool is VERY badly wound.. the normal temperature settings don't work, it need a big reduction or it just melts so easily and runs from the nozzle. The printing with this has failed on every print because of spool tangles..NO GOOD in my opinion and a complete waste of money causing problems and wasting my time trying to use it.!! Several hundred hours printing on Bambu Lab A1 without problems with a variety of other brands of PLA but this is absolutely awful..AVIOD..
3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely colour, but....
This is a lovely filament. It is a deep pinky purple and the finish is excellent. Unfortunately it's let down by clogging, which has resulted in probably a third of the roll being wasted due to print issues. I have used a 0.4mm nozzle, which I know is risky with carbon filaments, however I've yet to have the issue with other brands. I won't be buying more due to the price vs risk of waste.
Print goed en ziet er uitstekend uit
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Print goed en ziet er uitstekend uit.Uit de verpakking gehaald en gedroogd in Polydryer voordat ik het heb gebruikt.Ik heb een Bambu P1S.Instelling: Generic ASA.Shrinkage gemeten: X-as 99.44% en Y-as 99.56%. Gemiddelde shrinkage 99.50%.
Buen filamento
Buen filamento, cumple con su proposito
Lighter color than the pictures
Good after a drying and calibration. It does string a bit no matter what I do.
Horrible bed adhesion
Catastrophic bed adhesion. On a Voron 2.4 with textured PEI bed... I will stick to ABS
Ottimo filamento
Ottim, anche ad alta velocita' di stampa.
