I bought this because we have a rescue dog who is taking an age to become fully continent in the house - we are getting there but still have enough accidents that I need a good supply of simple solution (which I find very good). However, to be extra sure that I was completely eliminating any urine from the carpets I decided to get one of these.I'm really not sure if it works or not, to be honest. You need it to be completely dark - pitch black - to see anything very much. Even then, all kinds of other things show up under the UV light; bits of fluff etc. I would suggest giving the carpet a thorough vacuum first to maximise your chances of seeing anything.We have a very old flat carpet on the upstairs landing and it didn't do a bad job on that - it certainly found some stains of something! Having said that, it was an old carpet when we moved in and I really couldn't tell if I was looking at urine traces or something completely different dropped there years ago. I cleaned it anyway, so got some satisfaction!However, downstairs we have a carpet with fibres in it which show up under UV light, unbeknown to us before purchasing this. On this carpet the product was as good as useless because the whole carpet showed up as mottled (and no, the dog definitely hasn't been to the toilet over the entire carpet!).I had fun for 5 minutes and this reassured me that we are not living over a film of invisible dog wee - but in all honesty, it's a bit of a gimmick. I probably wouldn't recommend it.

We have a puppy who kept peeing on our landing - We had the carpet professionally cleaned, assuming this would do the trick, and within a week she was back to peeing. Because she never did it in the same spot, we didn't think she was marking... until we got this light and realised she is marking the ENTIRE landing. Spots we didn't even see before, clusters of marks too, we found them all... so disappointing after having a professional come and do what we thought was a thorough job! We also bought some other products from Simple Solutions to help remove the pee, and because of the light you could see the stains go from very vibrant to dull and in some instances totally gone. 100% worth the money.

This genuinely does not work for showing up cat urine at all. My cat had a uti and I was using it on spots I had seen her go on and it didn’t show anything. Waste of money

Very useful as our old cat went blind and had the odd wee accident. I was very brave and checked out our bathroom, but was pleasantly surprised that I had been doing a good job in cleaning, it was the kitchen that shocked me as it shows up cleaning products that have not been whipped away properly and spills of washing detergent around the washing machine. It did also pick up are cats accidents that I hadn't found.

Bought this for my daughter as she has quite a few cats, some of whom do spray. Its an Alpha male thing between 2 of them. Plus she fosters and sometimes the kittens have a habbit of weeing in the most difficult places. Has helped her alot when she knows she can smell something but cannot find where the smell is coming from.

This is definitely overpriced, it is bright with its LED bulb but expensive. I wouldn't recommend it to someone looking to see cat urine, there are much cheaper alternatives that will do the same thing.

A must for all puppy owners. The only way to effectively prevent your dog from peeing inside the house in the same spots over an over is to use an enzyme cleaner, but it often difficult to know if you have missed a spot, or if the carpet is actually clean and so on...this light will tell you! Just check the room in the dark, and any peed spot will light up in bright yellow, so you know where to spray! So satisfied!!
