It was not sharp, heavy & hard work to split 8" logs. As a beginner to log burners & chopping wood it felt a bit dangerous that that axe was so blunt.So I bought the Fiskers which I knew I should have in the first place. Always buy the best hand tools.OMG, this axe is so easy to chop those 8" logs now, it just slides through. Even when it gets 1/2 way you can just push down & it slices like butter - WOW.This AXE is safer because it doesnt bounce off or jam, its light & easy to wield so your arm doesnt get tired, it does a good job at splitting so it makes your life easier. Dont cheap out like I did, make the right choice first time.

this is amazing for a small hatchetwent camping this weekend, and a friend who is much more experienced than me remarked how shocked he was at its ability to out perform any expectations you might have of it. you think its gonna take half an hour to cut through that tree? think again.Think it'll take 16 chops to cut through that branch? it can do it in 5 my friend. Although technique is just as important as your axe, and we were always cutting in a V shape.there was really nothing it couldnt handle in a short amount of time.It was easy for me to sharpen afterwards on a whetstone: just hold the flat 1cm blade edge flat-against the whetstone while pushing it (doing this on both sides), until it gained its edge back, and then it was scary sharp again.its just a HUGE amount of fun on top of being a fantastic and cheap axe, that also looks great in my opinion as well! and the size is a big thing as well it can fit in any of my smaller sized back-packs.I'll also add that i saw someone else's X7 a few months ago, and it was useless/blunt because they never sharpened it. So take care of your hatchet, it'll only give you what you put in.

Stop looking for axes, stop looking at reviews. These are by far the best axes you can buy. Weighted perfectly, and pack a punch with the perfect geometry.With previous wooden handled axes and solid fibre glass handles, I was suffering with pain from vibration/ shock in my wrists. I’ve not had this problem with the X7 or X27. The design prevents shock and vibrations.

I used the Fiskars x7 to crosscut a 6inch log. No burrs or deformation of the cutting edge was noted and no impact was noticeable on the finish of the axe head. This surprised me very much as this axe ships very sharp. Usually sharp edges are brittle and easy to round, but so far the Fiskars defies this logic: it is both sharp and tough...

Mostly I just chop wood in my back yard using a Hultafors axe with a 0.8kg Swedish steel head and a hickory shaft. Very traditional and very functional but too heavy to backpack comfortably on occasional trips to the woods. So I looked for something lighter and slightly shorter. I ended up focused on Fiskars which is the antithesis of traditional even though I think Finnish qualifies as Scandinavian. The X7 is about 50mm shorter than what I use currently. Probably the head weighs in at about 500g. It is noticeably lighter but its slimness should compensate if kept sharp. I deliberated over the Fiskars X5 but settled on the X7. Glad I did, I think it is a perfect carry size and weight. I'm hoping it can replace my current Hultafors for back-yard chopping as I am buying a maul for splitting.

I like the modern looks and the composite shaft. I tend toput things down in the woods and then can't find them. The orange handle makes it easy to see. I have a loop of cord on the axe and hang it on something. I also have the fiskars sharpener. 30-40 strokes and de burr and it is very sharp. This is a good axe. the head will never come loose.

Ascia da taglio ben congeniata, dotata di una buona resistenza, manico credo in resina o fibra di carbonio (qualcosa del genere) molto resistente e saldato praticamente alla parte metallica.Si presenta da subito con una buona affilatura, fornita di fodero in plastica con passanti ( Che ho modificato dato che era un po' stretto per le cinture da lavoro)Taglia molto bene ed è leggera il che permette di utilizzarla anche con perseveranza, senza risentire di alcun problema. Non è adatta al lancio. Ascia esclusivamente per taglio legname e sfoltimento di arbusti.Esteticamente che dire, fa la sua bella figura. Vi sfido a trovarne una più bella (de gustibus)Bolo come sempre impeccabile nella spedizione e nel package.
