5.0 out of 5 stars Great alternative to oil based paint

It’s the first time I’ve ever used this paint, and I went with it based on some reviews I read online. Before this I used hammerite radiator Paint which is oil based. The downside with oil based paint is it can be difficult to use, especially if you’re used to normal water based paints. You have to work quickly because if you go over areas that have started to dry, it pulls with the paintbrush and doesnt look good at all. It also smells really strong, and if you get it on anything, it’s hard to get off. You have to use white spirit to clean your brushes, and it takes ages. The main reason I looked for a water based paint to use on radiators is because oil based gloss paints tend to go yellow over time, especially if they’re not exposed to light. This is one big advantage of a water-based radiator paint, it stays white and you can clean your brushes with water instead of white spirit. There are also fewer toxic fumes, and if you get it on anything, you can usually wipe it off with a damp cloth. So how did this paint work out? Well, it s quick dry, but it s still a bit tricky to use, like an oil based paint. After painting in one area for two or three minutes, you cant really go back to touch it up because it will pull the paint and it doesn’t look good. In terms of preparation, you’re supposed to lightly sand the surface and use an undercoat if the color is really different. My radiators were a kind of off-white, yellowish colour, and they were painted a long time ago, so I didnt bother with sanding or undercoat. I just made sure they were clean, and the paint stuck to the surface really well.It does say on the tin that you can use a roller or a brush, its dry in 1-2 hours, and you can clean it with water. One thing to watch out for is that it has some chemical in it that might cause an allergic reaction, so you shouldnt breathe it in. I used a P3 respirator mask and opened a window just to be safe. In terms of smell theres not much advantage over oil-based paint. The one downside is that this paint tends to leave brush marks. I used a good quality harris brush, and while it doesnt look too bad in person, you can still see the brush marks. but because my radiator was already yellow underneath, I got away with one coat, which was nice. When you are up close, you might think it looks a bit rough, but when you step back, it actually looks really good. The fact that it’ll stay brilliant white is just great in my opinion.I would buy this paint again if I had to paint another radiator. With hammerite, you get tiny little tins that cost a lot more, and its a pain to clean the brushes plus if its going to go yellow over time, thats no good. I cant say how long this paint will stay white since it’s only been on for an hour, but I am hopeful it’ll last a long time.

Great paint, so much better than the other big name satin wood and much cheaper as well.Nice and thick, not watery like the more expensive paint I had before.Refinished my skirting and only needed one coat.Dried fairly quickly.

Decent product and price. Paint goes on well and coverage is good. No nasty smells and clean up is straightforward. Dries very quickly, which I like, so best to work on a small section at a time. Happy with the product and price and subsequently bought another tin.

Was dubious about trying this as I always normally stick to Dulux, but after the rave reviews, I decided to go for it. Really easy to use, no drips and good coverage from the first coat. Touch dry in one hour as stated. Water based so very easy to clean up after. I would definitely recommend.

Best paint ever. Not to get too lyrical over paint, but this went on so well. I used it to repaint some low grade quality internal doors that are basically plywood. It dried fast, (around an hour) without any brush or roller marks, and covered up a multitude of scratches caused by dog claws. Very happy with the results. Looks professional.

We used it to paint x2 primed doors. One of these was enough for 2 coats each. Value for Money and nice finish. Love that its water based and dries extremely quickly.

The paint is okay, it works great. The only issue is that it separates a lot. Every time I open the tub, the oil and the paint has separated and needs mixed.

    Buon prodotto

The paint does not create glossy effect

Plus, it will be easily removed if you take out the painting tape
