A great seasoning for chicken and pork as well as vegetables.
I bought this seasoning to replace a Lawry's chicken seasoning that is now different than the blend I had been using. So far, I very much like this seasoning for both chicken and pork. This seasoning is good on vegetables and other foods as well. I try to vary the seasonings that I use as to prevent boredom. I have a couple of the McCormick Grill Mates Montreal seasoning, and like them all.UPDATE 09/23/18:I have been finding that I am using this seasoning great for both chicken and pork and it has become my go-to seasoning. I think this seasoning is much better than the Lawry's chicken seasoning that I used previously.UPDATE 04/05/20:I have been using this seasoning for 2 years, and found that it also works well as a rub. I use this one primarily for any kind of fowl or pork. When you bake a turkey or chicken, coat with olive oil, and sprinkle this seasoning on the inside and outside of the bird. The taste of the results is to die for. I have also used this seasoning for baked pork chops and for pork shoulder roasts. For the roasts, I usually coat with oil, liberally sprinkle on the seasoning a cook it in the pressure cooker. The roast is so full of flavor, and the gravy made from the drippings is wonderful. Since I usually have too much gravy for one meal, I freeze what is left and use it later when I need pork gravy. Homemade gravy is so much better and healthier than anything you can buy in the store.UPDATE 8/15/21:I have been using this seasoning for over 3 years for both chicken and pork. I use it for seasoning and also for a marinade. Most recently, my husband bought pork brochettes from a local grocery store. A couple hours before cooking them, I sprinkled this seasoning on them. I grilled them on an indoor appliance and they were to die for. The brochettes were huge, but so good we all of them. We had the same results with chicken brochettes hubby bought.I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update it if my opinion changes or I discover more uses for this seasoning.
Secret Ingredient In Chicken Noodle Soup And Chicken & Dumplings
For whatever reason there has been a sudden rush on Montreal Chicken Seasoning at our local grocery stores and I was unable to find it for several weeks at several different stores.Enter Bolo and I can get a big honking container of it and have it shipped to my door in 2 days.Clicks "Buy Now"Item arrived as expected in a matter of days and was in perfect condition. This spice mixture is my secret ingredient in homemade chicken noodle soup and homemade chicken and dumplings. Added to any soup with chicken broth as a base it will be fantastic. We also sprinkle it on chicken before we roast it, bake it, fry it or grill it. You cannot go wrong.I am not actually a big fan of spice mixes and have maybe 3 in my spice drawer. I prefer using single spices and making up my own mixtures. But this one is versatile enough that it deserves a space in my kitchen
Fantastic multi-use spice at super fantastic price
I discovered many uses for this high quality, first-rate, versatile spice ten years ago. It purportedly is geared for use on chicken, but in fact you are only limited by your imagination in discovering different uses. It is great with fried or broiled chicken legs, chicken breasts and baked chicken. When cooking chicken on the grill or in the fry pan, it is best to sprinkle on the spice at the 50% cooking point so that it doesn't char. It is also great with beef and pork. I do a lot of Chinese cooking and was delighted to see that it makes bland stir fried and braised bok choi, spinach and broccoli super tasty. My Chinese family members give me a thumbs up whenever I serve them these veggies. I use the spice in my French cooking as well. It gives my ratatouille a certain je ne sais quoi. Beyond its value as a condiment, it has two additional Big Pluses: its Bolo price is unbelievably cheap and its ingredients are healthy. Regarding price: the 23 ounce jar (almost one and a half pounds) is just under $9.00! A meager three ounce bottle at the supermarket is $5.00 - 6.00. How does Bolo do it? Regarding healthiness: no MSG. It contains salt and sulfite preservatives, but their presence is near zero in a typical portion. This is a great deal.
